We’d all love Conte and I’m sure it would be very entertaining to watch him tearing his weave out but what happens in a year or two when a giant comes knocking? We’ll be back where we are today, reeling.
We need a guy whose ambition has outgrown his station and wants a club to match that ambition. It’s Potter then Dyche.

...”we’d all love Conte”?

i wouldn’t.

So the names the athletic have written blurbs on are Moyes, Benitez, Fonseca, Martinez, Ten Hag, and Nuno.

It’s an incredibly short sighted list and speaks volumes about who’s in the boardroom.

It speaks volumes about who writes for the Athletic!

It's really weird to have a pop at who is in the boardroom over something that is idle speculation from a random website about who we are looking at to replace one of the most successful managers to ever play the game who said boardroom also employed.

Pochettino would be the ideal one. A good blend of big name and fitting the "project". Its a pipe dream though.

After that I'm struggling. None of the realistic candidates fill me with excitement. I'm hoping a name comes out of left field over the next couple of days.

They actually wrote this before Ancelotti departed, so I'm not entirely sure where they've got the names from, as the meeting hadn't even taken place.

....we need somebody with a strategy in mind, somebody committed for long-term change. i suggest the likes of Conte is very short-term & he wouldn’t be for me.

I kind of agree with this. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't say no to him as such but it would be like running before we learn to walk.

More I think about it, David moyes is my choice. By all accounts he works his hoojies off. He's a proper footie man. His recruitment at Everton was excellent. He won't put up with poor attitude from some of our prime Donna's. Give him 80m to spend and I'd back him to put a bit of bite into this team. Did a cracking job with the hammers. Knows the club, so can hit the ground running. Once he got his ducks in a row, some of the footie his sides played here was very easy on the eye. Welcome back boss.
That's key in the job description, or should be.. although I am completely against bringing him back for the way he left, putting off signing a contract only to act surprised when United came calling then we had Ferguson saying in his book that Moyes was approached months earlier. It's a petty reason for not wanting him back I know.
