Benitez

Age 61
Started managing 1993

Nuno

Age 47
Started managing 2012

Do these numbers not come in to play?

Or to flip it another way.

Benitez

Achievements after 8 years in management: 1

Nuno

Achievements after 8 years in management: 0 (I don't count lower league stuff as such, if we do it's 1 also)

I went for 8 because that's all Nuno has.

When comparing numbers for stuff like this it always helps to break the numbers down a bit more. Comparing trophies between a relatively young manager and one who is a veteran is not an accurate measure.

If you really want to compare the 2

Rafael age 47 -

2x La Liga titles
1x Champions League
1x Champions League Runners Up
1x Europa League
1x European Super Cup
1x FA Cup
1x Charity Shield

RB is not coming, the real danger we need to look out is Nuno. If we block that appointment, then all is fine.

Welcome Galtier.

Well no because that is not a comparable stat. That is just an arbitrary age. Time in management is surely the only metric that is remotely worthwhile here when creating a comparison?

At his peak, washed up like he is now he's won the championship in the last 8/9 years and that's it.

Haven't we learnt anything from signing washed up people for this club?

Delph being the absolute prime example

Really should be looking at Roberto Mancini and making an offer to join us after the tournament.

Nuno is another Martinez/Silva and would knock the club back another few years. Benitez is toxic after what he said about the club.

If we can’t tempt Conte then what available for us in management terms is pretty poor.

Nuno doesn’t want Ferguson involved as he wants his own people. The club won’t remove him. This is the hold up with Nuno.
If we're backing out of talks with our no1 target (regardless of whether he's the right choice or not) because he wants his own team and we're trying to force Dunc on him then that's incredibly worrying. I love Duncan but we shouldn't be picking a new manager based on his job security.
