2025/26 Nathan Patterson

I understand the clamour for Patterson given everyone is sick to death of JOB at right back, but hopefully today will remind people that he's just not the required standard, as much as we'd love him to be.

Three successive managers have overlooked him now and they can't all have agendas against him.

Did he do anything today to make me think otherwise? Not really, he just did the bare minimum in terms of putting a shift in.

Didn't fall over or put the opposition in for the winner = a 'good performance' for him.

That's how low the bar is set for him.

Patterson at his best is a better right back than what O’Brien is producing this season. So if we’re not buying a right back, which seems to be the policy position of Everton since about 2009, then I’d rather we got Patterson into better form rather than persist with O’Brien there and Keane playing centrally.

…..I feel I have to qualify this by accepting I’m not a fan but I did think the team looked more balanced with a conventional RB (as some have suggested).

Being a little mischevious, you wonder if he’d be better with Ndiaye ahead of him.
Im not of the belief he's good enough either but a team will beat individuals and the overall shape does look better. Would be nice if we signed some full backs this month, not sure if anyone's mentioned it 😂
