2025/26 Nathan Patterson

….disagree, it’s why O’Brien is the latest in a long line of old blokes and square pegs in round holes that managers select rather than Patterson. It’s not a coincidence all of these other options get game time ahead of him.

Oh behave we looked better less disjointed when Patterson came on, hate the idea of Moyes ignoring our fullbacks and putting square pegs in round holes, it reminded me so much of Walter Smiths Everton, the one were you wanted to gouge you're eyes out. Now you amongst others might not like Patterson, I don't think he's the answer myself, but he has done fine in his last 3 games previous for us, hasn't let anyone down, so why on Earth Moyes decided to drop him for Job, who has proved poor all season when played at fullback is beyond me. Just buy a bloody fullback Moyes, one that you'll actually play.

….i’m not critical of Moyes playing JOB over Patterson but I’m extremely critical of his part in not bringing in a quality RB during his time here. There is no excuse to not fill the void.

It’s not a matter of Patterson playing, it’s a matter of not having an adequate replacement.

Agree with you're criticism but not just Moyes there is a much vaunted recruitment team to blame too. Patterson should be playing ahead of Job untill we actually get a right back no question in my view. But we won't agree on that so we may as well leave it at that.

I do have a view that Patterson is a very poor defender even though I described his latest performances as ‘ok’. I also agree we look much better balanced with a conventional FB but Moyes didn’t want him today against a wide player with genuine threat and his decision was fully justified (I think).
You mean like this ?

Up against Mitoma that day who was at the height of his game. Today looks a shadow of his former self.

No excuse playing a CB in that position.

….unless he’s the best option you have. That’s the bottom line, JOB is a CB but JOB > Patterson, that’s Moyes’ judgement.
You have just skipped over what you said.
He had no problems dealing with probably the best winger in the Prem at that time yet Moyes drops him for a CB agst a very much underpar Mitoma today.
Your point does not stand up mate.

Strange that this must be pointed out. No manager trusts him. He isn’t doing it in training or a game. He has been OK the last couple but an obvious upgrade is needed.
