2025/26 Nathan Patterson

….if it wasn’t clear before, it’s clear now that like others before him, Moyes thinks Patterson is a defensive liability, a risk not worth taking.

Personally, I agree so I understand the scenario of JoB at RB. What I don’t understand is the failure to bring in a top quality conventional RB, seems so daft when your only conventional option is clearly not good enough.
These are all outstanding managers are they.
You can have your opinion but the 4 games he's played in he's done more than justify his place in the line up.
But you already have your agenda set and happy for a CB to play there.

You also have tried to agree and justify Moyes playing McNeil week in week out , how's that going ?

You must go to the same optician as Moyes.

…to be fair, I’ve had 5 big ops on my eyes in the past 3 years or so 🥸

I do have a view that Patterson is a very poor defender even though I described his latest performances as ‘ok’. I also agree we look much better balanced with a conventional FB but Moyes didn’t want him today against a wide player with genuine threat and his decision was fully justified (I think).

I 100% understand why McNeil started games in Ndiaye’s absence, he was a key part of two away wins at Forest and Villa playing an important part. He too justified his selection over Dibling until last week. His failure to track the Leeds goalscorer was not because he’s slow, it was because he showed a lack of willingness and desire. There’s no excuse for that, it’s unforgivable.

Just because you understand why a player is selected doesn’t mean you can’t then be critical. Moyes hooked McNeil at half-time and played Armstrong out of position today rather than pick him. I’d be certain he’s really annoyed about that goal, no excuses, it was unforgivable.

Patterson is a better right back than Job, Job is a very good centre half, Moyes is a...stubborn idiot at times.

….disagree, it’s why O’Brien is the latest in a long line of old blokes and square pegs in round holes that managers select rather than Patterson. It’s not a coincidence all of these other options get game time ahead of him.
