2025/26 Nathan Patterson

He was the only one playing on the right Dave, he was practically covering 2 positions as McNeils performance was atrocious. Done very well under the circumstances, but as for crossing into the box, it's very hard for anyone to cross from open play as there is practically no one in the box to get on the end of it. Why can't we get more players in the box ?

I saw another game then as I didn't McNeill as the issue. He was ok...or certainly no worse than anyone else in that first half.

Patterson's major contribution to the night was to get back and make a telling challenge on a Leeds forward on the edge of our box...a very good challenege it was too....but there's just one snag: the danger was caused by Patterson himself: high up the pitch near the halfway line losing possession and then running for his life trying to get back and correct his own mistake.

If we had a proper RB on the pitch then everyone handing Patterson any credit would simply say: "Yeah, I see now what we've been missing, how did I ever believe in Patterson?!"

So lie to me Dave and tell me we don't look better with Patterson at right back instead of Obrien, because you've already lied by saying Dwight McNeil wasn't the issue on the right where he clearly was. I went the game Dave and Dwight was atrocious, he hid all night and was rightly hooked at half time and I also didn't imagine almost everyone around me complaining about him either. Don't dig yourself a bigger hole Dave, we still need two fullbacks, because of Patterson's injury record and Mykolenko's inability to be a better attacking fullback. You're blind hatred is ruining you pal.

I'm not lying mate. I'm giving my opinion.

And Patterson hasn't been a failure here because of injury, it's because successive managers never wanted to play him because he cant defend.

I took the lie bit back mate, should have chose my words a bit better shall we say.
For thd last 3 games Patto has performed quite well and we don't look as disjointed as we do with a centre half there, that's my point and I'll stick with it. McNeil is playing like he wants out, so it would be difficult for any fullback to play behind him at the moment. The second half we were on top and Mykolenko whose a decent defender, proved he's not and never will be an attacking threat. I actually think we need two fullbacks due to Pattersons injury record.

Some nice words of praise and encouragement from Moyes today.

Asked about Nathan Patterson’s form, Moyes, whose team travel to Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow (Saturday) said: “I think he’s done okay. We’ve been actively looking for a right-back for over a year, but I think Patto, when he’s come in, hasn’t let us down, so we hope he continues to improve and keep going.”

The nicest way of saying 'we all know he's sh***, but what else is there?'
