2025/26 Nathan Patterson

Does this mean that the theory that an average RB playing at RB is better than an average CB playing at RB is now the perceived wisdom at Finch Farm
Not finch farm, just a broadly accepted set of principles by the fanbase.

As soon as Branthwaite is fit (assuming the other 2 are also fit) we will revert… and I will be SHOCKED if we don’t.

His "ok form over the last month" has been to sit in during AFCON and injuries in a team set up with everyone behind the ball offering the opposition two banks of four to break down with maximum screening of the defence the priority.

That's unsustainable.
Where do you get this stuff Davey?

I don't entirely disagree with him tbh. Tonight, where there's going to be more of an emphasis on us being on the front foot, might be a better barometer of where Patterson is.
Yes and no as we don't set up well at home at all recently, actual RB or not. We started the season well enough at home but have been hot garbage the last few months.

A poor setup will favour no one, as we should know well from the Dyche period.

Anyone with any sense of football can observe that we've accomodated Patterson in his - thankfully - short period time in the first team by playing in a cautious manner with loads of bodies behind the ball. And anyone can see that he's needed helping out in a big way in the 3/4 games he's had by the RW and Tarkowski.

No team looking to control games can operate in that way. That isn't sustainable...and playing behind the ball for long periods certainly wont be tolerated at home in matches like tonights. So it'll be interesting to see what happens regarding team selection - and if Patterson does start then how he copes with the stabilisers off.

What in the actual inane nonsense is this though?

Like at this point you're parodying yourself more than even being contrarian, honestly sad to see.
