2024/25 Nathan Patterson

Thought his corners were poor. And he is much better at putting in low whipped crosses rather than trying to float crosses in.
When he gets his head up he can pick a teammate out with a decisive pass/cutback which is something we don't have from the left hand side. As you say, his floated crosses were not a good, far too lofty and deep to be threatening. A clean slate for him now and it'll be interesting to see what the next manager does with him - Moyes would be as good a boss as he'll get at this point in his career imo, I think he'll relish the challenge of making a player of him.

Don’t think he did too much wrong really. Playing with wing backs (which at this point suits him more than out and out RB), I expected their attackers to try and exploit the additional space in behind both him and Myko but the defensive cover of the 3 CBs shut most of that out.

His corners were poor, and his floated crosses are nowhere near as good as his low whipped balls in. Lots of endeavour going forwards though, much better in an attacking sense than our other options.

I’d still consider trying him at RW over Harrison with Young behind him.

Thought Young got forward more when he came on

Young was ok, he's more savvy defensively but Patterson had some decent moments. We've got to remember he barely got a look in under Dyche and has been on the bench for a few months now without getting minutes.

Not saying he's the answer, defensively he's all over the shop (thought it was a good decision by Baines and Coleman to play wing backs) but going forward he gave a good account of himself

Dyche picked the team according to the media?

If we had wing backs I’d agree

He is clearly by a million miles the best fullback offensively. Can't really say Young and Myko are that much better on the defensive side. I just think Dyche was a bit of a coward in selections to be honest.
Jep, I think he's ideal when you play with a 3-4-3 like yesterday, best wing back by a mile.

Young does it well this season, but maybe also try Patterson in a 4 back as right midfielder. Couldn't be worse than Jack. Showed decent performance against Forest.

Decent going forward last night but regularly skinned defensively. I had some hope for him when he first came, but I think he is just too lightweight for the prem. We definitely need new full backs asap.

He didn’t actually get dribbled past once all game. They may have found pockets of space in behind him which is expected when playing wing backs but no one actually took him on individually.
