We always thought it was a Frage der Zeit (a question of time) as to when it would happen here, but unfortunately it's happened. The city is in complete shock.

Was in a beer garden all evening with friends near to where there were reports of a second shooting (Karlsplatz Stachus). Loads of helicopters for hours overhead and police sirens every 20 seconds.

I've myself been to the shopping centre (OEZ - Olympia Einkaufszentrum) loads of times, used to live 5 minutes away and went clothes shopping there. Have stood in the very spot the gunman was shooting from; in front of the McDonalds which is opposite to the entrance of the shopping centre.

It is odd how police sirens sound subtly different when something really bad has gone on. I used to live on Clapham Road and can remember them all going to Oval on July 21st, and Stockwell on the 22nd. When the helicopter crashed in Vauxhall they also sounded odd (though that may well have been because of the fog).

Apparently there wasn't any second (or third) shooting location and the Stachus / Marienplatz reports were false?

The French-translated Munich police report is talking about a person who had committed suicide being involved in the shooting.

Would strongly disagree in relation to Iraq and the follow on in Syria and Libya. We supported Ghaddafi until Arab Spring then supported disparate groups with no game or end plan. In all these areas we have supported regime change without a clue of what that would be and what authority it might have. Not for the first time in history we have been trying to shape the middle east but probably more clueless than ever.

Well I saw a video from Karlsplatz and there were clear shots fired from the sound of it.

It claimed to be from there, but no proof. Very scary times. Just want to sleep now, but it won't be over tomorrow.

Keep safe and all the best. BR are reporting that they found a body in the Olympische Dorf which they think might be the gunman.

(I'm closer than most to you but still in the relative isolation of the mountains. I was just this evening booking my trains through Munich for the Dresden matches...)
