Besics a more rounded player. McCarthys still got his uses though

Definitely, and if Besic can learn from McCarthy and Barry and gain that knack for positional defensive brilliance, my word he can become a player.

Also adore his attitude. We've missed having a passionate, snidey little terrior in the side. Tim Cahill's shirt couldn't have gone to a more appropriate player.

I agree that technically he probably is a little better than McCarthy but I think you sell James short he is very competent in almost all aspects of the game but the difference is Besic is unafraid to make the showy or risky play. McCarthy plays a much more controlled game.

I rate McCarthy too but just personally speaking think Besic gives us the extra dimension of steel with equal skill...an eye for a great pass and more polish. If the rawness cards wise he showed last season has been turfed, weve got one hell of an all-round talent on our hands in our engine room. I can even see him taking the armband in the future when Jags is out.

What i seen last night is exactly what I seen last season, martinez got booed in two games last season for taking him off. He needs a good run of games to get a good understanding of all those around him. His technical and tackling talent is obvious but I've never seen a young player look so confident, he dishes out orders and instructions to all other players. The only thing that will stop him becoming a very important player is himself. He is pretty much guaranteed 1 or 2 red cards a season with the refs and players who roll about, so its missing games which may hinder him in the long run.

A game of two half for Besic
1st half he was everywhere, closing people down, putting some great tackles in and also getting forward
2nd half held a great position and supported the midfield and forwards.
it showed to me that he has got the energy but sometime more importantly he is aware of holding a position and ensuring that the team keep a good shape
I think we all knew there was a player in there, and it was only a matter of time before he started to cement his place in the team
Talk of him replacing Barry though is off the mark, this isn't a critiscm I just think Besic is more of a box to box player and the holding role would restrict him

That's because he is only learning mate stop going on.

I've been very impressed by the lad, been good on the ball keeping it and spreading it as well as winning it too. Certainly if he keeps it up itwill be a hard decision on who to play alongside Barry when Jamo is fit. However the key to that is maintaining the level he has been at, having a couple of good games is easy, maintaining that consistency, very difficult.

I love Besic but people forgetting how good James McCarthy is are being silly.

Besic isn't half as good at reading the game defensively. He definitely has more ability on the ball and going forward, but you know Everton fans, it's possible to have two very good but different players in the same position!
Besic definitely lacks discipline, and isn't as good positionally. But it's really refreshing to see someone playing with passion, and hustling players off the ball rather than backing off. He let Toure and Silva know that they weren't going to get any time on the ball yesterday, and that was crucial.

I also think he helps to fire up the rest of the players and the crowd, which is something that's needed at the moment.

I'm gonna get stick for this, but he reminds me of Roy Keane. Not only the way he plays, but also that look he gives opposition players and body language that says " bring it on ".

If he gets a regular run of games and carries on improving he's going to terrify the opposition !

Nah, agree with ya 100% mate, we have to remember he's only young, he will make mistakes like all the young lads in the side, Jesus H if we keep this lot when they hit their pomp, we will win the frigging lot!!
