To sum up ...

Two teams, short of confidence. Scrappy game. Liverpool only looked dangerous from set pieces.

We give away a free kick in a stupid place, Gerrard scores

Jagielka scores with a screamer to shut the kopites up. Limbs everywhere in our end.

Only a point but felt like three.

I got that bit and agree with the feels like a win - hopefully will kick start out season.

I meant about Besic, how did he do?

Ah, sorry, thought I was on the match thread.

Did OK, kept it simple most of the time, but also made some good passes.
Got caught in possession a few times and occassionally tried to do a bit too much in and around our own penalty area.

Considering how much time he's played in the Premiership ( effectively none ) , and the occassion of a derby, I'd say he has every right to be pleased with his performance.

Thought Besic was fantastic tbh. T-How was back on form.

Defence was fine, even Hibbo was fine. Baines dreadfully missing Pienaar though.

Barry was a nightmare the first 15 mins but settled down nicely. McCarthy was a bit low-key for me. McGeady was useless, and shame about Mirallas.

Lukaku for me was turd, but he was out of position. Naismith again worked hard.

Made up with Browning.

Was impressed with Besic, some nice touches an looked solid. Looking forward to seeing him more next to McCarthy.

Two dynamic holding players and if they can get a decent understanding it could be very good.

Yep did well considering. Got caught with the ball a fair few times but surely that's to be expected in your debut start, in a derby non the less.

Needs to pick up the pace and physicality of the PL but by next season could well prove a great aquizistion.

This.

Easy to forget how young he is sometimes and that the 3 world cup games he had were his only 'real' games at a high level.
He did well considering that and can only improve from here imo

I agree. Being a Derby was a bit more frenetic than usual. Liverpool were in our faces quickly (more quickly than us) and didn't allow players to delve on the ball. Besic did well in that respect but did get caught a couple of times. I would not have any qualms about him starting in future with the knowledge that he will get better as he adapts and turn into a very important player for us.
