I'm still effing excited for him. He's blatantly been brought in and told "Barry's spot is yours for the taking. Work on your game, improve, show what you can do, and when he starts getting phased out, you'll start getting phased in." From interviews and that it's pretty clear all he wants to do is be the best footballer he can be and occasionally kill someone. So he's been shown this spot in the XI as motivation and I reckon he's going to work towards it like crazy. Once his decision-making settles - and that's completely understandable considering the fact that in his previous league if he made a mistake it wouldn't be punished so hard or he could fix it fairly easily - he could be really really excellent.

If he DOES come good and the partnership is McCarthy/Besic, that would be the hardest working central midfield ever. Imagine trying to get past them two with some more experience under their belt.

So in preseason he was boss because he was raw and aggressive, and now in the regular season he's cack because he's raw and aggressive. Sound as.

An astute observation there Kev. Without wishing to stir up the old hornets nest, this is another reason why the preseason schedule was so substandard. More friendly games, against better opposition, would have meant more chance to see what the lad is and what he could be capable of.

Some of You guys are now a little exalted in negative and positive terms, too. I was too when he played in Hungary. Facts: he hasn't played a single moment as RB for half a year, now it's not the time to start it at the Derby. And he played it for only half a year, needed 4 matches in the Hungarian league to adapt to it. So please don't want him in that position 'cause there will be some serious consequences. And he was far better as CB than RB. He needs to clear his shiny way of play, it fits a little better to European football than the PL, needs some playtime for that but not at the most important matches. He can shine at the national team till then. You saw him against Swansea, watch him against Wales and You'll see the differences in his gameplay.

He though Mo was great after he stopped dicking around, trying to needlessly dribble out of trouble. Once he got the ball he was forward thinking and most of his passes were positive.

Haha are people seriously calling for besic to play at Anfield with Atkinson as ref? Yeah great idea if you want us to be down to 10 for 80 minutes of the match

when was the last time hibbert put a fine performance in though? honestly can't remember, he should be finished at the club, maybe a coach of some sort but deffo not a squad ( backup or not )
Maybe that 4-4 against United a few seasons ago when he got those two assists? At least I think he got two assists, hope I'm not imagining that

He's got tremendous potential and a fantastic engine.....let's not write him off on the basis of a few minute cameos and a dead rubber at Swansea eh.....
