I get what you mean with regards to his pondering, but in the same breath it appears Martinez did a fair bit of pondering himself with the Yarmalenko deal in the summer. Turns out when you're completely broke and the media keep linking you with quality players you are deemed quite the indecisive manager! Truth is you'd love to sign them, but are unwilling to sacrifice a top player to make the deal happen.
There was no pondering, Martinez knew exactly what he wanted, the board just never backed him up.
