Moyes Watch @ Real Sociedad

Seeing teams like Villa and Newcastle struggling isn't great for the prem in my opinion. You want to be playing good sides every week. There was a time when going to St James', Elland Road, Villa Park was a daunting task. There were good sides all over the league. Now you have 4 sides with unlimited money, us Liverpool and Spurs floating outside that, then the rest is utter dross that you get annoyed against if you don't win.

It's not so bad now but a couple of seasons ago when you had Blackpool, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan, burnley, Hull and the likes of that in it the away games all just become the same, the same type of players drift around all these clubs going from relegation to relegation. Teams used to have a bit of identity but now there's a lot of boring sides devoid of any stability that seem to turn their whole squad over and manager every season. Makes the league as a whole a lot poorer in my opinion. It's become an entertainment show 'how many can City/United/Chelsea beat 'insert cannon fodder team' by'. Maybe some fans like seeing big name stars just trouncing rubbish teams week in week out apart from the odd week you get a shock but I don't.

Remember the Newcastle of Robert, Shearer, Solano, Speed, the Villa of Dublin, Hendrie, Mellberg, Leeds of Viduka, Smith, Kewell Bowyer Woodgate Dacourt. They weren't the top sides in the league but they were very very good teams. Now most of the league is garbage and you're either expecting to spank a team or be battered, there's very few even contests or exciting always anymore.

I'd happily swap Villa and Newcastle for Leeds and Forest.

I hope you are right mate.

I was told about this very early in the deal and posted so on the Everton forum before it became common knowledge.

I was also told that it was virtually a done deal at the point and Everton were acting as if it was a done deal as well so it did seem like they pulled the plug although I feel as though they stopped our number 1 target coming so so we then pulled the plug on Stones going. I reckon if Yarmalenko had came, Stones would have gone.

The way we conducted ourselves, and have spoken since does give the impression we are going to have another go in January and Yarmalenko did seem keen to come here judging by his actions so you never know. If we're in a good position come January, and it looks like we should be, then it should also help although I can't help feel we've missed our chance.

Anyway.... Moyes.....................

Moyesy is old news Boris, let's look forward to Yarmolenko joining us ;)

Because they compare so strongly I guess

Everton and Villa are constants of this wacky football world

Most played fixture and all that

I just have no beef with The Villa mate

I'd miss Villa Park as an away day as well

Yes, I always loved Villa away in my travelling days.

Best ever trip down there.......1984 Milk/League Cup semi final second leg.

From memory we were 1-0 up from the first leg and we drew 1-1 down there.

No doubt someone will correct me if the old memory is letting me down again :(

Anyway.....we took 17,000 to Brum that night and the noise we made was deafening.

I bet @BlockHead and @Dario Terracotta were as hoarse as I was after that game ;)

2-0 after first leg late second goal by richardson a little controversial they claimed handball. Got beat 1-0 at villa, andy king mistake led to goal but we controlled the game having hit the woodwork a couple of times I think. It was a truly brilliant night!!! Loved Villa away after a rocky start in 1969 semi against Man City!!
