I don't want anyone coming at Everton mate. We sh*t ourselves when Barnsley do.

Anyway, I have ingrained hatred for teams like Villa and Newcastle who somehow claim to be our equal. Clowns. The lot of them.

I think we have vastly more in common with a side like Villa than we do with Newcastle

Villa and Everton are both "sleeping giants"

I see Villa and all it makes me think of is the pain I felt during the early 00's as Everton lurched from one disappointment to another. I was lucky enough to dodge seeing the Blues get relegated during those dark days and I hope young Villa fans are equally as lucky

Cant see him going to villa or any club over here til at least the summer, next job he takes could finish him off so doubt he'd risk it and wait so he gets a full summer of prep.

Not arsed either way just want him to crash and burn wherever he ends up NEA

Am I reading that right Mikey? We didnt get relegated.

I worded it badly the first time around :)

I meant I was lucky enough never to see Everton relegated when we were really rotten and probably should have taken the fall

It would have hurt like a barstool to a young Mikey

It's not like Hull or Swindon, where they kind of expect to go down

Villa are like us, a big team with a rich history. I'd feel a genuine pang of sadness if they went down

Why though? Why do you give a hoot about Villa? Even if they had something common with us, which I disagree vastly with you about.

Toon fans will have you believe they are a sleeping giant too lol look at the fanbase man, the fanbase!!

Aren't Sunderland historically more successful than Newcastle anyway in relation to trophies won?

@Albertini78 and @Sunderland afc
They're bigger they've won the intertoto certificate before and played in the San Siro :( They've also bang on about the Fairs Cup. When they won it the team Ujpest beat in the Semi Final got a bye to the Semi's after Hamburg withdrew in the 1/4's ... What a competition a team withdrawing from it in the 1/4 finals lol

You can only beat what's put in front of you.

Does it count if there's nothing put in front of you though?

Because they compare so strongly I guess

Everton and Villa are constants of this wacky football world

Most played fixture and all that

I just have no beef with The Villa mate

I'd miss Villa Park as an away day as well

Seeing teams like Villa and Newcastle struggling isn't great for the prem in my opinion. You want to be playing good sides every week. There was a time when going to St James', Elland Road, Villa Park was a daunting task. There were good sides all over the league. Now you have 4 sides with unlimited money, us Liverpool and Spurs floating outside that, then the rest is utter dross that you get annoyed against if you don't win.

It's not so bad now but a couple of seasons ago when you had Blackpool, Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan, burnley, Hull and the likes of that in it the away games all just become the same, the same type of players drift around all these clubs going from relegation to relegation. Teams used to have a bit of identity but now there's a lot of boring sides devoid of any stability that seem to turn their whole squad over and manager every season. Makes the league as a whole a lot poorer in my opinion. It's become an entertainment show 'how many can City/United/Chelsea beat 'insert cannon fodder team' by'. Maybe some fans like seeing big name stars just trouncing rubbish teams week in week out apart from the odd week you get a shock but I don't.

Remember the Newcastle of Robert, Shearer, Solano, Speed, the Villa of Dublin, Hendrie, Mellberg, Leeds of Viduka, Smith, Kewell Bowyer Woodgate Dacourt. They weren't the top sides in the league but they were very very good teams. Now most of the league is garbage and you're either expecting to spank a team or be battered, there's very few even contests or exciting always anymore.

In one way I'm greatful that billionaries like Ashley and Lerner are pond scum because the last thing we need is more clubs outspending us. However its hard not to feel for a side (even NUFC) that have owners who slowly drown their own club's and their fanbases with it in the bathtub because that is the ultimate fear that I have about Everton. We may be cheap and may not invest as much as we should but at the very least when we do bring players in the manager does have the final say in whether or not said what player gets sold. Granted I know that doesn't mean that Barkley and Stones will be here 4LIF but at least it means that we'll put up a fight and not make it hard as hell for said team going after them.
