not really a benchmark though januzai is he? macheda looked quality for half a season, he went downhill as well.
I just think there has been a lot of louder voices from United about moyes that confirm impressions of why he is limited as a manager rather than unlucky

Less than a full season at both jobs is ridiculous. Apparently Moyes is the anomaly to the principle that managers need time. Any other club Martinez would have been sacked last season. We gave him time. Moyes deserved that at both jobs. Difficult to do anything in less than a full season.

If Moyes had gone to either United or Sociedad, hit the ground running and gave them their best ever league record in living memory, then he'd have been hard done by.
He didn't though. He fell on his face.

We were fifth, hardly the best record in living memory. We got a high number of points but Arsenal and Liverpool's totals showed that the rest of the league was fairly rubbish.
You either believe in giving managers time or you don't. I think managers deserve more than one full season.

see it confuses me that moyes still gets excuses used for him despite track record saying otherwise. He had a year and a pre season and signed back sociedad's best player and still struggled, down to the culture and language most probably but he would never be successful there. United won the league and the team stopped playing for him because of his negative tactics, that weirdly enough a better squad finished in the best he could ever achieve at Everton bar one lucky season. not really a coincidence that he can only take us to 5th and then moves to United and they drop there as well?
as for him being a good youth coach? ask sheedy what he thinks

he did with a record low points total and could never get anywhere near it again when he did have money to spend. He achieved it but taking the rosey glasses off it was a freak achievement in the grand scheme of things.
