Lets be fair here,

ON THIS DAY: In 2025, Everton appointed David Moyes for the second time.

The Toffees' rank in the PL in that time:

◉ Wins (10th)
◉ Points (=9th)
◉ Clean sheets (5th)
◉ Goals conceded (5th)
◉ Goals scored (15th)

They were 16th when he took charge.

I for one am glad im not looking out for results of teams in the bottom 3.

We were 5th playing 4th with a chance to go into the champions leagues spots about a month ago. I didn't think it would last but at the time we certainly weren't underperforming overall (the odd result aside). There is 0 chance we will get relegated this season.
The thing is I never said I thought we would be relegated but I am cautious in my hopes ,you cannot pick one match to prove a point as you have . The overall opinion is that he is 1/ out of ideas 2/ backed by those who are unlucky enough to think he did/is doing well ,I can promise you that we deserve better and it is possible for us to play better with this squad .
Let's take Grealish who it seems has been given a free role , he is good on the eye but nowhere near achieving what he should ,he always does the same run and stops because he is right footed and can't / won't cross with his left ,whereas Adam Aznou. showed what an attacking left winger can do if he doesn't stop in his tracks giving the opposition time to refocus ,I am not comparing them like for like I am just illustrating the difference it can make if players are used to the best of their abilities ,next Keano everyone says he is the best finisher at the club ,would Moyes play him up front as common sense would dictate ? For sure no but why not ?
The same players can be coached much better than now .

What about xProgressive carries tho?

That did raise a smile and a laugh (something I have not done for a while). I did not want Moyes back and I simply do not want him here now, the style of play especially in the last 3 matches is mind numbing. Sidewards, sidewards, backwards, backwards, lump the ball up to the striker and lose it etc etc etc

He is a negative manager who sets up a team not to lose. Playing away from home that's fine and he has decent results but the football is dire.

It's an improvement on Dycheball but I want better than just being a bit better than another negative manager in Dyche.

This is feeling like the last few months of Lampards tenure with us. His only redeeming feature was he wasn't the Fat Spanish Waiter.

When did we change our motto to " being average will do "

Maybe because Aznou came on against tiring players it enabled him to look decent. Do you really think the same performance would be seen from him had he started at home to brentford on the wing and been marked out of the game by 2 players. I think not.

What a weird take. The lad has barely played a minute, but with barely any time left came on and impacted the game far more than nearly anyone else had in nearly 90 minutes. Yes he's raw and winning a dodgy penalty doesn't make him Gareth Bale but not sure how your first thought is to criticise.

Anyway, that's for a different thread.

Hes not without his faults but we are where we should expect to be all things considered and to want him gone is ludicrous considering overall how we have performed particularly when he has had players available.

I would still say he has done a good job. Just cant see why he has persisted with o brien at right back for so long
Where we’re in the league is irrelevant to me, it’s what’s the plan moving forward, what’s the playing style ?? Where’s the ambition to go and win games and not just sit back and hope the ball falls our way.
Personally I hope we dont buy anyone in This window, unless it’s a young player for the future. If we dont buy Moyes a ready made player, hopefully that means he will be gone in may

We are one of the few clubs in the prem that can never score freely, even clubs like Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham always churn out sides that score goals no matter how many players they lose. We only get the odd attacks or a goal from a centre half in games.

Moyes is perfectly suited to our current state of plucky little Everton not quite pushing into the top of the table group of clubs.

We need to get the players to challenge as well as the manager. The players and squad need to be there for any manager to have success.

Moyes is probably the ideal man to be our Moses leading us to the promised land without entering it himself.

Moyes preference is older players with PL experience not young with potential.

Good analogy. We all know what happened to Moses: he spent 40 years wandering in the desert before he died within sight of the promised land. We've had 15 with Moyes...

Just swap out one letter and strap in for another 25 years of early cup exists and "stability".
