Moyes says Europe is ON

Oh come on Dave, in this scenerio Moyes has no choice but to quit then.

Your basically telling him to kiss goodbye to 10 Years work and basically admit defeat.

Surely the fact he hasnt done this shows ambition, as you say hes been told what hes got to work with, but its not him thats changed the goalposts, its that utter parasite thats changed the rules.

2 and a half Years he watched as his squad was torn apart, with not a pot to piss in and the Anti-Moyes beauts call him for pointing it out all the time.

Clearly hes sending a message to that utter weapon in charge.

I maintain that nobody else could do a job as good as Moyes has, for the net spend hes had and I will tell you now, no other Manager would put up with the crap he does either.

People always point to his wage, hes earned that wage, whether people like it or not he really has, its ok saying "He gets paid enough".

If it wasnt for Moyes we would be nothing but a crappy Championship Club, deal with it.

yet again a complete fabrication how do you know this, its an absolute impossibility for anyone to know what would happen were another manager was in charge. How do you know that another manager might actually do even better than moyes even have won something. we don't know and we will never know so please stop saying it its nonesense and I believe you actually have some interesting things to say Goat but your moyes tinted specs are too much.

I dont see how Moyes asking for the money he generates through transfer activity is a balls on the table 'back me or sack me' position. He wouldn't be asking for the world and he's in a strong position: as you say (and the board know) if he goes it'd be a good possibility that instability would happen (at least that's what most think). What are they going to do - not give him the extra few million quid he demands and thereby jeopordise the league status of the club? Makes no sense to me.

He's playing the game, IMO. He's given this lot a few chances to find investment to push the club on and they've given him pretty much fcuk all in return. I question why a manager who's stock is so high continues to put up with that situation. The consequences of not finding a way of getting him money far outweigh all other consideration. He's all about managing stagnation and understanding the club's position with the paying of debt. And he'll be that way until Bill and co get a stadium built on the cheap and get out with a nice drink post takeover. That'll be years down the line - if at all.

Cheers Hazza,

And to everyone... Remember, I'm a million miles away from the bright lights of Goodison, so I really have no idea whats going down on the streets and in the back rooms.

I've loved this club, a club I've never been to see at home, and only ever witnessed them in the flesh wearing Pink FFS, for all my life. You local folks have something I could only ever dream about, so cherish it, love her like your child; and forgive her sins, we're only as good as the people who make her tick. Fans and staff alike, we expats sit and comment from afar, hoping to understand, hoping to share in her glory, and giving her a bit of a cuddle in defeat.

Good post.
Nothing wrong with a bloke wearing pink though.

If Davey had our boys playing the sort of football that we have been playing since jan(2x derbies apart) then i could understand all this he is irreplaceable stuff. however for years now for half the season we are absolute tripe and that is down to the manager no matter what you say and all this but we never signed anyone crap is tedious our squad has players in it more capable than what they shown us for most of the season.

We know the situation tho Dave, Moyes knows the situation.

The current Board of utter fraudsters have sold everything not nailed down, so much so that a Club such as ours cant even get more than a 25m overdraft from a Bank.

You can imagine the acting that Bill does when Moyes asks for cash, maybe thats the issue behind the recent falling out Fox was talking about, maybe Moyes has asked for cash, Bill has said countless times that Moyes would get every penny from sales, we know theres around 22m missing from the last 2 Years, money that Moyes generated, but when some fans ask the Chairman where that moneys gone they are considered scally thugs.

Moyes is a well paid Manager, thats not in doubt, would he get paid that wage elsewhere, I doubt it, but im fairly sure hes not short of a few bob and really doesnt strike me as a Ferrari kinda guy, so I doubt money is his motivation.

I really think he wants to win something with Everton and he knows if he does, considering the cards hes dealt, he really would have acheived something.

Managing United and winning countless trophys is basically cheating, I could win Titles at United, I would have won the World Cup with City already, when you have money to throw at problems its a walk in the park, but when you have to really work, getting 7th place against the odds is considered great.

It's surprising just how long it's taken people to get their heads around this. This is how Moyes has been from the beginning.

Ok, maybe he's not motivated by just the money; maybe he sees staying at one club for 10 or 15 years as an achievement (the achievement) in and of itself. If he's being told constantly that it's a miracle to keep Everton from the lower half of the table for years on end, I question where the ambition to do more than that comes into his thinking. He'd like to win a cup for sure, but you can sense it's not a be-all and end-all thing for him: he can always turn to his 'best of the rest' security blanket when we fail in big matches. And, for me, that's the basis for him being pacified on finances. He's been told it's success. It isn't. He really needs to understand that history will be very unforgiving of him. His legacy in the long run will be *David Moyes - manager of Everton 2002 - 201? - honours won: 0.*

He's been hamstrung by racketeers in the boardroom, definitely. But he's also a victim of his own risk aversion on all fronts: on-field and off-field.

Jermaine Beckford £4,000,000
Mikel Arteta £10,000,000
Yakubu Aiyegbeni £1,500,000
Steven Pienaar £3,000,000

Plus loan fees for Yakubu, Yobo twice.

doubt half of that was up front, plus fees to previous clubs, agents etc im not sticking up for the board, but the figures arent correct

Cups aren't the be-all and end-all. You need a decent side to win cups and to bring in the funds to build a cup-challenging side, you need to be competitive in the league. He can't be accused of not taking cups seriously enough as he always plays full strength sides while other, often weaker teams, rest players. He rested 6 for the prem derby because we had Sunderland at the weekend. I'm still not happy with that, but as you think cups are so important, surely you must applaud that decision?

He definitely doesn't use his league success as a security blanket imo. He's said that aiming for 7th/8th = zero ambition. But he's not going to come out and say he and his squad are a failure every year they fail to win a trophy is he?

The figures are correct and clearly money is never paid upfront.

But in the past Moyes was always given money generated from sales.

Sending a message? By whining about it and then doing nothing? What message is he sending exactly?
