Moyes finally says something.

well let's see how it pans out. i agree i'd rather some international as back up over the kids, but we just have to go old school... all the way back to 1984 when we could get a kid from bury and he would turn in to the worlds best 'keeper.[/quote With the increase of players on the bench I would not only expect a couple of kids but would be disappointed if there were none as if they are on the bench we can blood them if the right opportunity comes along.

coyney... bang on my friend. i hope we will see more players come through now they have the chance to get more match experience like vaughan v palace 4-1.

The OS trying to make it look like Moyes has been sitting on a fortune provided by Kenwright. "It's all Moyes' fault"...that's what they're implying there.

i been trying to second guess what moyes sees in the squad to make things as non urgent as they are.

who's gone from the side ?

well wessels has gone , he did cover for howard a few times and wasnt spectacular.
ruddy and turner as cover has got a question mark over it but they need a chance to show what they can do .
they are learning and if they can equal wessels performances then we are no worse off.

da silva , gardner , vidaarsson , gravesen , etc , were all here to make up the numbers but didnt play much of a role at all.id say they wont really be missed.

fernandes , great player but did he actually do much last season ? obviously we are a better team with him than without him , but he wasnt really influential when he played.
im saying even if he wasnt here we pretty much would have finished in the same position.

aj , good player , he is a loss to the squad (at this time) , but we do have the potential of anichebe and vaughan.both should be improoving , both need games.

carsley , an important cog in the wheel , neville or jags have played the role and there is the potential that rodwell could play it. its all if's but's and maybe's though.i think most people would be more happy if we had another option in the squad.

players in ? well there isnt any , but baines , vdm , cahill and vaughan missed a lot of last season.
with these fit its 4 players better than last season.

other improovements , gosling , baxter , kissock , rodwell , if these 4 alone live up to there hype and potential then it would be something special.
i think there would be a fair few premier clubs envious of that quartet coming through the ranks.with vaughan and anichebe added aswell , its a credit to our youth policy.

we also have an assistant manager now , which is an improovement on not having one.

apart from that , the rest of squads the same .
last years signings will be more settled , arteta is in better shape .

so perhaps we are a better team than we were last season ?

What aload of [Poor language removed], this has been the worst pre season ever.
Posted via Mobile Device

Actually the worst pre season ever was on Dream Team years ago, where all the players died when there bus crashed. This is second only to that.

Got to agree with most of what UKnight says we arent much different from last season, sure AJ is a loss but we only had yak for half a season last year and now hes had time to settle. For me the big loss is Fernandes and Carsley, sure fernandes wasnt that influential but he did the job and there is no real cover for players in midfield now.

With Carsley i just dont think we have anyone in the squad that matches his role and performance last year, was one of our best players IMO, nothing fancy just did the job he was there to do and did it well.

You can see moyes vision here, he wants to replace these 2 with players better than they were, pretty tough task but what really worries me is the fact he said he hopes to get somebody in before the transfer window. Not he wants a few, not the 5 or 6 he talked about, just somebody. Makes him sound like hes only really got one transfer that he thinks can happen and after all the latest speculation could just be tiago coming in...

i reckon the blues are still trying to sneak signings on the cheap. thats ok when your lookin at lower league players or ones off the radar but tbh going to lisbon and offering 13mill for supposedly 1 of the brightest prospects in europe and also trying to get w love on a loan deal is abit of a joke. lets face it moyes has built the best team possible on the available budget but to try and break into the top four we realistically need another 50/60 million .

I reckon he wants to buy a certain type of player, and if they are not available he doesn't want to throw money down the drain Newcastle style.

He see's tbc kids as good squad players and doesn't want to waste money on players who are just going to be in the squad and not first choice.

:lol::lol:

Which I have been saying all along (example below), to which you and mainly Gordon have given me stick.

Its obvious Moyes has at least the same amount of money as he has ever had, but he's clearing after a higher calibre of player.

"Disagree.

I have total faith in Moyes. He knows what he's doing. Its obvious he has at least £20million (McFadden & Johnson money and a bit more), the same amount, if not more than he has had to spend any other pre-season.

If he wanted to, he could have brought in a few bodies to boost numbersbut he obviously is confident he will have quality by the end of the transfer window.

Fans want us to bring in quality to bridge the gap between us and 4th, the man is trying his best to do that. Moutinho will, Sidwell wont.

We are no worse off than we were last year. Cahill, Vaughan nearly back to full fitness, Arteta is... with a few youngsters gaining a good pre-season under their belt.

The fans who have called Everton a joke and a disgrace should have a serious look at themselves."

I just hope he gets these signings right. He's either dithered all summer or he really is looking at top quality players.

I hadn't properly thought about this, but you may well be right - normally we bid teams in the balls for relatively unknown players and get them cheap.

Now, we are looking for "the next level" and the staff may not have readjusted the way they approach players enough to actually land them.

Better to wait than to do a Newcastle I suppose, but I still think we should have seen just SOMEONE signing. Just one backup player, someone cheap.

Until a signing is revealed, I think something is amiss at Everton FC.

Every Evertonian is hurting right now because we haven't signed anyone. I'm gutted the season starts tomorrow and we haven't improved the squad. Either somethings seriously wrong or we're playing cool hoping prices might drop. I love this club and its been a part of my life sinse 1971 when me dad took me against Sheffield United. When other fans have something negative to say about us I hit the [Poor language removed] roof and want to rip eyeballs out. Yet if its another Evertonian I understand. We all feel the same and we're all worried. This is the greatest club with the greatest fans and we deserve better than this. COYB make us all happy and [Poor language removed] sign some decent players.

I hate to say it i really do but Moyse does my head in sometimes. I honestly don't think its been solely about the money I believe He's just far too cautious. I know caution is prudent in the transfer market but you cant expect everyone to let us take there players on loan, i mean, whats in it for them? They understandably want hard cash for there assets, Why should they let us take a year out of them with the strong possibility we'll toss them right back afterwards. I don't believe there arnt players out there who are in our price range and would not improve our team . So ,Davey , do what every manager has to do and just take the risk of actually buying someone ffs!

That is spot on been trying to tell my kid brother that but he was always a brat when he didn't get sweets so he can't understand.

I don,t see how it can be moysies fault he loves this club if there was money he would have signed his contract and bought players.

so perhaps we are a better team than we were last season ?

All the team around us have added and on paper improved from last year. We're relying on youth players who, apart from Baxter, havent made any drastic impact in pre-season. Teams change every year or build. If you dont you get snuffed out because there's nothing left to surprise and move on with.

Why do Real Madrid's or your Man Utd's spending vast amounts of cash? They're out of our league yes, but they're at a point that they dont want to fall from. After being the best team in the league, you try and maintain why you're the best team.

Villa, Spurs, Pompy, The [Poor language removed], Chelsea, all have improved big time. All these teams, even Manure and Arsenal, last season we either beat or were a player or goal out from beating them. What are we now at this point? We've replaced what we've lost or added with un-proven youth.

Yak gets injured we're [Poor language removed] up front. Arteta injured, whats our midfield?

There's no signs we're actually going for anyone with quality. Yeah, we've got till the end of the month. But we're not getting a Moutinho, a Love, [Poor language removed] we're not even throwing money at a cut-price Arshavin that Spurs might bag because no top club wants him. So what do we have (rumoured from the press)?

An over the hill Thiago. Joe Leadly and still maybe Alan Smith.

Im happy our first game is almost a sell out (why aint aint it sold out) and I'm happy another season is here. But I cant help but feel we'll be mediocre this season.

But that's just me.
