He hasn't reached the heights of last season but he is still a cracking player. Think people expect too much sometimes. He is a dangerous player and could easily turn a game in our favour. I like to see him take players on, he may fail a few times a match but would rather see that than turning around and passing backwards to the half way line as many players nowadays do.

Similar situation with Peinaar, his form is not as good as it was but he is still a first choice player and one that makes the team better.

he wasn't amazing last season though. I can see he has ability but hes not that good.
 
Tricky winger/mercurial forwards always blow hot and cold. He is an ace player at his best. I am sure he will contribute over the season but may look after himself near World Cup to avoid injury. It is a bit in the tricky winger mentality IMO.
 
If he was consistently as good as his very best form he wouldn't be playing for us.
In a strange way however even when he's not on top form he's still dangerous because I think he makes full backs fearful - always worth having in your side 'just in case'. In any case I enjoy watching him play.
 

Would be interested to see him alternate with Barkley in the middle a bit. His goals against Spurs and Stoke last year show how effective he can be running through the center, center halves drop their arses when he gets going.

Oh yeah me too, he will be a 15mil pound player though I'm sure of that. He pulls off the Ronaldo stuff every 5 games or so, lack of consistency, but he certainly has the ability and talent. I think it's up to him mentally if he wants to make the next step and be world class, something about him and his personality suggests he may struggle to do this, but he's got the skills.

i took him out and he goes and get an assist and goal vs hull. wonder if they re-scinded his 4 points for barry's goal. whole sort of problems to be caused in head to head leagues. wonder what happens in cup competitions. there's already been a gameweek since

I took Baines out just before West Ham :)
 
Can change a game in one move.

Unfortunately flutters in and out of games. Fantastic for 10 minutes then you don't see him
