It appears at least to me that this is a step towards addressing and trying to clean up their incredibly tainted image. As for the load of chaff, that's March this year, not today to justify this current u turn.That is just a load of chaff put up though to justify this sort of thing, though. You are meant to think this is a measure intended to prevent the next Couzens or Carrick. It will do nothing in that regard.
People who get to a gross misconduct board have been investigated and the police think they are guilty and should be removed (hence the board). As I said above they already boot out people with regularity based on what they’ve actually done; if there was any part of the system that actually worked it was this.
