As I said - never excused or justified. This fella is in the press as the mo and tried to claim he acted in self defence in response to words too;

Fine, you’re absolutely entitled to your opinion & your interpretation of self-defence.
However, I find it mind boggling that you’re holding two police officers to the highest of standards in situations like that but have no issue with a far more highly trained fire arms officer booting a lads head in when the threat has been removed.
But that’s just me I suppose.
He should have booted him again.
But again - they're worlds away. Any 'professional' would recognise that.
The comparison you're desperate to make - is on the dog video, the fella is on the floor and they're still continuing to belt him. No way the police are disoriented from repeated punches to the back of the skull there either.

The comparison I’m desperate to make, as you put, is the 2nd officer & the firearms officer both being completely in the wrong.
Both officers making an arrest, one more highly trained than the other, have used excessive force in both scenarios.
I’m giving my professional opinion based on how the Manchester Airport Firearm Officer behaved, which was illegally.
Well on the dog video the fella getting battered on the floor was trying to calm a situation/release the dog attack.
At the airport he'd just knocked two women out, and repeatedly punched an armed officer to the back of the head 2 seconds before.
You talk of officers in fear/action based on that - mitigation - that counts.

Got the Baird report to work through. And it consumes a lot of energy, not least when the Lawrence family have been dragged through their horror yet again around the same time the Baird report was published.
Would it be cynical of me to suggest the police response to the Southport show-downers was purposefully limp wristed? To then make way for subsequent shows of force? I believe a narrative is being established, and I'm not sure I'm going to like which way it ends up headed.
I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again.
With heightened tempers and more toxicity in every equation I sincerely hope there is not significant bloodshed or worse.
Another Duggan or de Menezes type incident now I believe would see catastrophic incidents develop country wide.
