Current Affairs Met Police

I would have liked to see the dog pee on his head while he was on the floor getting smashed by batons.

But thats just me.

People make judgement/opinion based on ideology/who the person is.

If someone is protesting Palestine, you likely don't have that view. Which is fair enough.

Police standard should be consistent, though.

Got the Baird report to work through. And it consumes a lot of energy, not least when the Lawrence family have been dragged through their horror yet again around the same time the Baird report was published.
Would it be cynical of me to suggest the police response to the Southport show-downers was purposefully limp wristed? To then make way for subsequent shows of force? I believe a narrative is being established, and I'm not sure I'm going to like which way it ends up headed.
I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again.
With heightened tempers and more toxicity in every equation I sincerely hope there is not significant bloodshed or worse.
Another Duggan or de Menezes type incident now I believe would see catastrophic incidents develop country wide.

Thank you for your thought though.
I don’t think it was purposeful. They probably didn’t expect it to escalate to the level it did and then they didn’t have enough officers to properly deal with it. As has been mentioned before they didn’t have the numbers to make lots of arrests at the time as every arrest would take out 2 to 3 police at least. After Southport though they realised that things could escalate and then were better prepared at most of the subsequent rallies/protests that happened.

Would be very weird to purposefully leave your officers in danger.

Well on the dog video the fella getting battered on the floor was trying to calm a situation/release the dog attack.

At the airport he'd just knocked two women out, and repeatedly punched an armed officer to the back of the head 2 seconds before.

You talk of officers in fear/action based on that - mitigation - that counts.

You seem to think I’ve praised the police for the handling of the arrest in that video, there was absolutely no requirement for them to lay into him.

The Armed Response officer, was attacked, correctly defended himself, correctly withdrew a weapon system & discharged it. The individual was then flat out on the floor, his job was then done & could have made a safer arrest instead of a volley to his head. He then stood up & arrested the second subject, so can’t have been too “dazed”.

Anyway, I’ve danced this dance on here plenty. Both police officers in the wrong & should be punished as such. They’ve both, by law, used excessive force.
