How many billions were wasted with the national ID fiasco? And would it make undocumented people second class citizens?
Unarmed, no criminal record, and a father to three children. The 'Esquadrão da Morte' in late 60's Brazil left a series of harms still felt today. The world is a better place now that pond life isnt in it.
Like a permanent barcode on them somehow? No. Just people from the Wirral.
A public inquest on the Duggan death began on 16 September 2013, and ended on 8 January 2014 with an 8–2 majority concluding that Duggan's death was a lawful killing.Unarmed, no criminal record, and a father to three children. I don’t think it was purposeful. They probably didn’t expect it to escalate to the level it did and then they didn’t have enough officers to properly deal with it. As has been mentioned before they didn’t have the numbers to make lots of arrests at the time as every arrest would take out 2 to 3 police at least. After Southport though they realised that things could escalate and then were better prepared at most of the subsequent rallies/protests that happened.Got the Baird report to work through. And it consumes a lot of energy, not least when the Lawrence family have been dragged through their horror yet again around the same time the Baird report was published.
Would it be cynical of me to suggest the police response to the Southport show-downers was purposefully limp wristed? To then make way for subsequent shows of force? I believe a narrative is being established, and I'm not sure I'm going to like which way it ends up headed.
I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again.
With heightened tempers and more toxicity in every equation I sincerely hope there is not significant bloodshed or worse.
Another Duggan or de Menezes type incident now I believe would see catastrophic incidents develop country wide.
Thank you for your thought though.

Well on the dog video the fella getting battered on the floor was trying to calm a situation/release the dog attack.
At the airport he'd just knocked two women out, and repeatedly punched an armed officer to the back of the head 2 seconds before.
You talk of officers in fear/action based on that - mitigation - that counts.

This.Tbf, the police officers should have tasered the fat scruff before letting the dog loose. Made sure he thought twice about chearleading at riots.
