Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning hope everyone is well, just noticed the time, going to ring the Drs at 8am that is what you have to do to get an appointment that isn't 3 weeks away. I've had enough now, my arms are sore, I can't laterally lift them fully, obviously my neck, which is pretty bad and my hips and pelvis are still hurting when I walk. I gave it chance to go away and it hasn't.

There is part of a verse in a song which I think about all the time, particularly the last 4 lines, At my age, I didn't envisage being in such bad shape.

My eyes are red and gold,
the hair is standing straight up
This is not the way I pictured me
I can't control my shakes
How the hell did I get here?
Something about this, so very wrong..
I have to laugh out loud,
I wish I didn't like this Is it a dream or a memory?

Anyway have a good day guys. In a queue lol
As always T I'm left not knowing what to say to you. Words don't seem enough. Hopefully they'll come up with either a cure or something to relieve the pain. If only you could get the wacky stuff on prescription.

Take care mate.

I'm fed up Fred, the only thing I do is walk daisy and I'm struggling to walk distances now, sick and tired of being fobbed off. I have challenged them for years about my condition, I am convinced they are missing something but I can't get anywhere.

I used to have a straight gait and now it is no longer straight, I am walking on the outside of my feet. You can tell if your gait is straight initially by looking at the bottom of your shoes, if they wear away on the outside or inside more then you aren't walking straight which can cause more anatomical problems, this is where I seem to be. 10.30ish they're calling.

I hate phone appointments, I don't say what i need to or get my point across, they need to see really.

T, when you speak to your doctor ask him for a face to face appointment, even if it's next week. It's important that he sees the effect it is having on you mentally as well as physically. Don't take no for an answer and if need be threaten to speak to your MP. It's horrible to have to resort to threats but if there's no other alternative needs must.

Sunny down here today but the wind has picked up measurably, and it's a coolish wind too. No sitting in the back for me today. However a friend told me that the rhododendron et al are out in force at Glendurgan gardens so I might take a walk down there after lunch. It's about a mile and a half away, and the gardens are quite extensive so it will be about a 4/5 mile round walk in total, so a good workout. My spouse NT membership card is valid until the end of next year so I may as well make use of it.

As well as visiting Iceland (the shop) yesterday I also spent time in M&S to buy some clothes. Bought some new jeans as the old ones are now far too loose and also a couple of pairs of shorts. Also bought some new T shirts and got the lower size thinking it will be fine seeing I've lost over 2 stone. However they are a bit snug, if you know what I mean. probably no snugger than my existing T shirts were before I lost the weight, but I've kind of got used to my T shirts being a bit loose on me. So my question to the ladies on here is what should i do. I always took my lead from Cal when it came to clothing. I can either return the T shirts now (would need to get a bus and a train to get into Truro to do so) and swap them for the larger size. Start wearing them immediately even though they're a bit snug. Or keep them in the hope I lose more weight and return them at a later date if i don't. What's Marksies policy on returns? i know they are usually quite fair as long as you have the bill, but not sure whether they have any time constraints.

Anyway, hope you all have a good day and your treatment goes well Blue.

With regards to clothing Fred, whatever you feel comfortable in, we're not young men out on the razz lol casual and comfortable. I used to wear the tight fit T's when I was younger and in good shape but I prefer a bit baggy these days, not that I have much of a choice given I lost so much weight lol the thing is I kept quite a few T's in my wardrobe as an incentive to try and fit back in them, which I have achieved.

The main thing is NO skinny jeans!! lol lol

Yeah, I put the weight on gradually over the years, but I always have the intention of losing it so have kept quite a few of my old clothes in the hope I'd fit back into them. Some have hardly been worn, because you do that thing of not admitting to yourself that you're putting weight on and buying clothes too small for you.

Also, re not being young men on the razz anymore, I did contemplate buying some new undies, but decided that I'd go with what i have for the moment. I mean, it's not as if anybody is ever going to see them. lol

As regards the jeans, Cal used to hate me wearing baggy jeans. She said she liked to see the shape of my arse. So I've always bought slim fit. Luckily my legs have always been pretty trim. All my excess weight has always been above the waist. lol

I wear slim fit, slim fit aren't skinny jeans, people wearing skinny jeans should be locked away for their own protection lol. You sound like me, I put a load of weight on my gut mainly and not really anywhere else, apart from the face, arms and legs stayed fine.

That went well for a change, finally got a Dr who listened to everything I said. She agreed with me about the neck causing further complications with my muscles down the rest of my body, which the last Dr refuted, I know a little about anatomy and physiology and so i knew I was correct.

I have been booked in for blood tests tomorrow and she is going to chase the pain clinic up as she feels like I may have been discharged ? I have a degenerative disease, why would they discharge me, it won't suddenly get better.

I have also just found out that the dose of amitriptyline I am on isn't high enough to help with the neuropathic pain, I am astounded at this when i have been complaining about tingling sensations around the base of my cervical spine for years , apparently the dose I am on is to help me sleep. So that is being raised.

I feel like I have been heard for once ?‍♂️ let's see developments. I said i know of others with spondylosis who don't have anywhere near the complications that I suffer. Overall a good call for once.

Great news T.
Hopefully a new chapter starts now.

That's really good to hear T. Amazing that they have been under prescribing your pain medication for so long. Let's hope the new levels help you manage your life better.

Cal had an under-active thyroid since she was about 40 and they never got it sorted. All they used to do was prescribe a higher dosage of Thyroxine and she was on the highest dosage of 250mg for the last 12 years or so of her life. They couldn't legally prescribe a higher dosage, but even so it never sorted her problem. It's a bit of a mine field and quite complex, but simply put there are 2 types of synthetic Thyroxine, call it type A and type B. The thyroid produces thyroxine naturally (type A) and then there are enzymes in the body that convert this to type B. It is type B thyroxine that controls the bodies metabolism. You can get both types of synthetic thyroxine, but the NHS only prescribe type A, which is what Cal was given. So when she went for tests she was always told that her thyroxine levels were fine. But Cal's issue was that her body wasn't converting this to the type that regulates her metabolism. She brought it up a few times with her doctors, but was always fobbed off and in the end she gave up mentioning it.

Tummy, man boobs and jowls were my problem T. The jowls and man boobs are coming on fine, the tum not so quickly. lol

That's awful Fred. I sometimes feel like they think, they've diagnosed me and that's that, as if they never make errors. For the other GP to not even know how a bodies physiology works and that the muscles in the back can have a knock on effect, is mind blowing, I know that and I'm not medically trained, I just know a bit about lower body anatomy and physiology from when i played football.
