Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Disappointing result last night with the added misery of that being a very poor United. We don’t beat them or the rest of Sly 6 too often and that was a real opportunity missed. The playing of players out of position is starting to grate on me and I can only imagine how bad the alternatives must be in training.
I'm not convinced that the alternatives are that bad , it's just that Moyes only sees favourites with his tunnel vision

Yeah, I suspect you are closer to the truth than I am. I do understand systems and the importance of them but not to the extent that it doesn’t suit the players available. We are exhibit A of square pegs etc etc

He’s doing exactly what he did first time around….
We can see that @peteblue but those who weren't there have a different perspective and I understand ,yes we are miles better than the last few seasons and yes it is a heartwarming feeling to be safe in February but it is miles off where he could have us if he wasn't so blinkered in his choices .
I understand him to a degree in that he plays safe first and foremost until he panics with one goal down and ten minutes left .The fact remains he is not good enough .

I think it’s to view him as a transitional manager whose brief is to stabilise us in the immediate term then move on by Summer 2027 at the latest. I’m that sense he has delivered but I do agree that his conservatism has held the team back at this this season.

It wouldn’t surprise me either to see TFG also part ways with us the Summer after next.

Interesting that you make that comment on TFG ,is it based on Irish nouse or have you heard it on the grapevine ? I can see them moving us on as have other clubs with US owners ,I think we will have increased in value quite a bit in two more years .That does even less to quell my fear that I will never see silverware at Everton again .So for that I hope you are wrong .

I have always seen Everton as an asset purchased for under value and ripe to be flipped for major profit in the short term. TFG saved us from the brink, cleared our debts and have stabilised the club. In terms of what they will get in return from a sale, compared to what they saved not building a ground, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see a quick turnaround.

I agree , there is zero emotional investment.
That said I'm eternally grateful that they saved us from those 777 criminals

At the lower levels there’s much more opportunity to make emotional investments work, Wrexham being the prime example. At PL level the amount of investment needed means there little if any emotional investment, it’s a business to the owners. That can work well if there’s direction and money investment, and look at how we ended up in the mess with Bill’s emotional investment but no money.
