Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Not surprised that it didn't register with you AT .
It's a wrap around restaurant at the base of a high rise apartment block a penalty kick away from the river.

We joked at the time that it was handily placed for a pre match meal as it's pretty much equidistant between central station and Hill Dickinson.
I have walked past that building so many times when on the way out to Bramley Moore over the last few years. I did notice a restaurant now you mention it but didn’t get a name. How convenient though if you lived there.

Good morning on this damp and dismal day. The dark days before Christmas are aptly named.

I was just reading in the local press about 8 Palestinian protesters who are now approaching 40 days on hunger strike in UK jails. Some of them are the ones arrested at Brize Norton for throwing paint around the fighter jet. What struck me is not the politics of their protest but how the media decides what you, the public, are told. It’s astounding this isn’t being reported as it should be.

On a lighter note, I watched some footage of the Everton players at Alder Hey. Very heart warming to see the joy brought to those little kids and their families. It’s costs nothing for the club to do it but means so much.

Hi folks I hope you are all OK. I've mostly been on Granny duties when I'm not working. As you can imagine at this time of year the hospitality industry is manic and Charlotte is working ridiculous hours. Her partner is pulling his weight too but he also cares for his Granddad so he has to split his time ( the less said about his mother the better. Im trying to be kind at Christmas!) Having said that I've done 5 Christmas meal get togethers, ranging from pie and chips to Christmas dinner in 7 days!!
Anyway yesterday was a Breakfast with Santa at Charlotte's hotel so I took Frankie. He loved it, got to see his Mummy at work and I got a full English. Win win. 🤣I also managed to do overtime before and after childminding.
Our next childcare is not until Tuesday so this morning I've been to the gym, bought a few more presents and wrapped everything I've got so far. Very productive day so far. Gym again tomorrow.
I got a message from a former work colleague who is at the Sunderland match. He said Jordan Pickford and Jack Grealish were in the town mingling with the Sunderland fans.
Your lunch out sounded lovely @jazzy. Im trying to think of somewhere to take Mr F next weekend before the match. I'm a bit out of touch with dining in Liverpool. We are getting the train so I'll be able to drink - and we arrive at lunch time. I do fancy a proper Chinese, Chinese food in Durham is rubbishand unbelievably overpriced- any suggestions anybody?
I'm a bit conflicted about this time of year. I love the run up to Christmas but I really hate the fact that it's always dark. It never seems to get light. I'd be rubbish in a Scandinavian country! Have you adapted to it @blue1948.
I also thought we played OK yesterday- we need a striker!!! Hopefully Santa will be kind and deliver us one in January.
Have a lovely day all x
Well my head is spinning with what you have done ! Yes I am fine with the dark nights ,once we have snow it is much better though , it is falling as I type sorry to say the forecast is above 0° for the next few days so it will all melt .This time next week it is getting lighter .

Yes some of the stuff means so much I am sure the players get a thrill from the good they do . Up with the larks this morning AT ,aren't you on holiday ?

Good morning all on this white day here . I hope all are well and had a good night .
Yes AT the press is more selective than you would hope ,the way problems in other countries ,other nationalities in the UK and so on are sorted for clickbait rather than importance .I remember the IRA hunger strike well but not well enough to count the days but I am sure it was much longer than 40 ,it did though get the press's attention although it was for political bias at the time as they were treated as being foolish and deserving rather than making a point .
Have a great day all COYB .

Yes I’m on holiday now but had an early night last night. Trying to keep some semblance of routine and get plenty of exercise and sleep before the over indulgence really begins. Nothing I love more than being the only one up in the house, pot of tea to myself after an early walk.

Most of the Republican Hunger Strikers died around the 60 day mark. The group refusing food now met with Sinn Fein in the past few days which is why local media reported it. Hard facts of the physical reality of the strike and advice on getting their message out mainstream was given. God help them and their families.

We used to have a pool in the garden and I loved nothing more than to go down before the wife got up to skim any leaves from the top and start the pump ,just me and the birds other than the odd deer that didn't notice me ,they would sometimes be just two or three metres away in their thoughts -probably enjoying the peace just like me ,then the wife could bathe at her leisure while I put the kettle on and made her breakfast before hooving and then the dishes ........

It is a great time to be alive but nothing is perfect ,in fact some is absolutely shockingly bad . We are truly a bad species ,funnily we console ourselves with the good bits as in the players visiting sick children at the same time massacring thousands of innocent people .

A man after my own heart, just enjoying the peace of the morning on your own. I was out walking around 7am yesterday and it was so quiet, almost like the whole town had been on a Christmas Do the night before without telling me.

The 24 hour news cycle doesn’t help matters as everything is now in full technicolour for our ‘viewing pleasure’. For our own mental health sakes, if we try to be kind to one person each day at least then it’s a start to improving things. It sounds pithy I know but at least you feel like you are doing something.

You are spot on.
Bad things can't be ignored, but it is important to concentrate in the good things in life. The media (including social media) can tend to amplify the bad aspects and pay little heed to the positive. Small acts of kindness cost nothing and are so important to our own mental well being as well as that of others.
