Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I’m the same with family going back generations. I’ve now hit the age when I no longer ask who a young player’s parents are but rather their grandparents. And Im still playing football albeit for fun 😀

What would prompt you to move Gwladys?
Our house has a twist at the top of the stairs which is going to cause a problem with my increasingly creaky knees. I would love a bungalow, there are lots round here but the prices are beyond our means, those that are affordable need a lot of work if we were twenty years younger…

By the way .....House of Bamboo! Can't stop Mrs J singing it and it's getting on my bloody nerves.

We have watched up to Episode 8 of This City on iPlayer and won't ruin it for you but a bit of Episode 7 is shot in Everton park exactly where I took some of the photos last week . In fact I'm sure we parked in exactly the same spec.
Have you tried line dancing to it yet?

Even though I live in Wigan I have no feelings for the place at all in fact I would say I dislike it and am quite envious of those who feel emotion for their home/place of birth. I feel at home in Liverpool too, when I met my husband I felt immediately that I had joined a group of warm and welcoming people but like you I couldn’t live in a city.
A big win on the lottery would find me house hunting in west Lancashire as I now couldn’t move too far away from my family, but I’d also have to have a place on a small Greek island as more than anywhere it has my heart.
Inspite of saying all of that I am very content with my lot and life is all about compromise and acceptance.
Being content with your lot is important but always good to have the dream of a lottery win.

Never thought of it being something like that. People just don’t think of these things when buying houses as we never see ourselves becoming older.

Good luck with the lottery win Val.

Funnily enough after years of their being no property for sale in the village we now have 3 on the market including our next door neighbor.

Even though they are more than 100 metres away they must have been put off by Rosie's barking 😂.

I totally share your view of City living by the way. I love Liverpool and it's great for shopping, restaurants and a day out but I couldn't return to living there or any city.

Mrs J was vetting homes for the rescue and came across someone from Walton who has moved out to our village so she gave her a call . The family had only moved in 2 weeks ago and were complaining that it was too quiet and that they missed the traffic! They were a good home though and when she did a follow up call discovered that they had put the house on the market to move back to Liverpool.

The countryside isn't for everyone!
Mr G.is a country boy and had I agreed we would have bought a home there. His home village sits by the side of the A1 upgraded to a motorway since he lived there. It may be the country but it’s much noisier than where we live, in fact I don’t know how the residents put up with the constant hum of traffic.

Morning all, just catching up on posts. Not including student accommodation I’ve lived in 8 houses for a minimum of 3 years in Wales, England and Scotland . Home for me is where I am now and here I’ll stay. I found once I moved away in my mid 20’s ties were gradually dropped over the years and new ones made. Including local council elections, and all the various permutations offered by the proportional representation system I reckon in the past 50 years I’ve voted at some stage for every significant UK party except UKIP / Reform. Interestingly my kids , apart from university, never showed the same travel desire and remain Aberdeen based where I moved to 30 odd years ago.

That is why we moved three years ago one level and my knees are better for it . I was told a bungalow was from "bung a low roof on it " but recently we were watching something and it came from Northern India / Pakistan !
We have just got back from a walk ,this is the first time in a good while we have had prolonged rain ,as our roads are gravel there are hundreds of worms that have come to the top .So as I was told always accept what the land gives I have collected a dozen or so of the biggest and will hopefully convert them into some fish to eat in the next couple of days .

We live in very close proximity to the A1 and, believe it or not ,you just zone the noise out. It was the same when we lived n in our first house in Liverpool that we left in 1977 to move to the one my Dad lived in. The Liverpool - London train line was at the bottom of our garden. For those who know , off Brodie Avenue between West Allerton and Allerton stations. We never heard the trains , you just get used to it.

Absolutely beautiful day here in the Midlands. The sunshine is wonderful to see and for the first time, in what seems months, there is no wind. Stunning……
Absolutely spot on Pete. Did 4 hours heavy gardening and then had a cheeky beer whilst I sat in the sun listening to the 2nd half of the Arsenal game and woke up an hour later , bliss!

Good evening all. Another busy day moving stuff, putting it away and building things. My very bored ( after 4 days maternity leave!) daughter came to help - at her request! We're definitely on the final stretch though. The poor cat is really unsettled - she knows there is something going on as stuff keeps disappearing and there's lots of activity. Hopefully she will settle in the new house.
It's been a beautiful day here. Warm and sunny. I love this time of year- lighter nights and getting warmer.
