Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I think Blue defo gets the prize for moving the most distance.

Anj moved what , about 100 miles , I moved 300 miles and Fred 50 miles further than me but in the opposite direction.

I guess the big question is where do you consider home or perhaps put another way where (geographically) is your heart?

Mrs J has often asked if we should move ( back in my case ) to either Devon or Cornwall. Initially I thought we I might like that but when I really sat down and thought about it I realised that everything that I ( and she) love and enjoy is here in the North West. It's not that surprising, after all although born in Plymouth I only lived there for 22 years and have been up here for 42 years.

I'm sure you will have played the game of what would you do if you won the lottery and where would you move to. In all honesty I'm not sure we would move anywhere else.

Anyway, like you Blue I have no great expectations of today's game. It's far more important for City and we are safe and the season virtually over. That said it wouldn't surprise me if we got something today.

Quite cold and cloudy today and no particular plans.

Have a lovely day everyone.
Liverpool will always be home. I love County Durham, I have made really good friends but there's something about Liverpool that whenever I go there I think yeah, this is home.I think you forgot Ducans Elbow for moving far afield.
If I won the lottery I would buy a castle in Scotland.

Yes you're absolutely right , Canada and Dunc slipped my mind , sorry!

Hi folks. Just got back from the 100th birthday. It was really lovely. The birthday girl was on form, sharp as a tack and not impressed with her card from Charles and Camilla! We ended up giving her money in her card because it's a while since we've seen her. She still drinks and smokes so my first thought of a bottle of gin and 200 ciggies would have been a decent shout🤣!
I didn't tell you that the party was at West Auckland Working Men's Club. I had forgotten that West Auckland FC won the very first World Cup. Here's a pic of it. Apologies for how rubbish it is, I was trying to avoid birthday balloons and banners!

I have lived most of my life in this area, as did my grandparents and gt grandparents. When we were first married we bought a house five miles away but I couldn’t settle so back we came. I’d love to move from this house but finding another one in this area at the right price is impossible so here I’ll stay.
I’m the same with family going back generations. I’ve now hit the age when I no longer ask who a young player’s parents are but rather their grandparents. And Im still playing football albeit for fun 😀

What would prompt you to move Gwladys?

I feel at home in Liverpool although think eventually would struggle with how busy it is. I still feel blessed that I can walk in leafy solitude when I want. Although, the Liverpool I know is city centre and the roads to Goodison or the airport in fairness.

If I win the lottery I still wouldn’t want to move, just have more holidays.

How can West Auckland Club not be in Australia!!??!!

Good morning all on this overcast day here ,I hope all are well and had a good night . well I was the furthest away for a while but gladly reliquish my crown to @Ducans elbow .I have just been thinking about the Finnish language they write it but in Finnish but no one speaks like that ! A bit like a learned English teacher writing and a scouser talking . Have a great day all COYB.
We deserved better yesterday but we all knew Man City were not going to roll over ,it seems dithering Davey hasn't lost his reluctance to use youngsters .

Morning Blue. Kay sorted so I can grab a few hours of sleep. See you all later……

Morning everyone,

Yeah football was a bit of a damp squib but it's end of season , we are safe and City are still pretty decent.

However Moyes picking Broja, Doucoure and Keane to play is very worrying.

Went on a big tropical plant buying expedition yesterday at Robins Island and believe it or not B&M. Actually they've got some really good hardy palm trees at ridiculously cheap prices.

So today is a big planting day but first I've got to move a very large and very heavy ceramic sink / trough that I was going to use as a water feature but changed my mind. Anyone want to give me a hand ? Free cup of tea and chocolate bar for the volunteer 😂.

Have a lovely day everyone.

By the way .....House of Bamboo! Can't stop Mrs J singing it and it's getting on my bloody nerves.

We have watched up to Episode 8 of This City on iPlayer and won't ruin it for you but a bit of Episode 7 is shot in Everton park exactly where I took some of the photos last week . In fact I'm sure we parked in exactly the same spec.

Even though I live in Wigan I have no feelings for the place at all in fact I would say I dislike it and am quite envious of those who feel emotion for their home/place of birth. I feel at home in Liverpool too, when I met my husband I felt immediately that I had joined a group of warm and welcoming people but like you I couldn’t live in a city.
A big win on the lottery would find me house hunting in west Lancashire as I now couldn’t move too far away from my family, but I’d also have to have a place on a small Greek island as more than anywhere it has my heart.
Inspite of saying all of that I am very content with my lot and life is all about compromise and acceptance.

Good luck with the lottery win Val.

Funnily enough after years of their being no property for sale in the village we now have 3 on the market including our next door neighbor.

Even though they are more than 100 metres away they must have been put off by Rosie's barking 😂.

I totally share your view of City living by the way. I love Liverpool and it's great for shopping, restaurants and a day out but I couldn't return to living there or any city.

Mrs J was vetting homes for the rescue and came across someone from Walton who has moved out to our village so she gave her a call . The family had only moved in 2 weeks ago and were complaining that it was too quiet and that they missed the traffic! They were a good home though and when she did a follow up call discovered that they had put the house on the market to move back to Liverpool.

The countryside isn't for everyone!

There is that saying that the grass is always greener. Even though we live in a built up area it’s fairly quiet and lovely to sit in the garden and just hear the birds. It’s lovely where you live - there are some really pretty villages around this area. Barking dogs are not an issue for me as you can imagine 😂
