Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Just heard Jess has been sent home from school as in their opinion her spots have not scabbed over sufficiently, She is not now allowed to do the dance show tomorrow and is inconsolable. I feel so disappointed for her. The tickets we bought are non refundable too. Oh well perhaps Everton will get a result tomorrow to cheer things up.
That is so disappointing. Surely the school should know better than that as regards managing children’s emotions.

She had been at school all morning with no problems. She hardly had any spots anyway. It was only when she said that her back was itchy the teacher told her she would have to go home. They aren’t allowed to examine her so never even saw the spots. Totally over reacted in my opinion.

I'd be fighting that one if a medical professional advised she could go back. I'd ask whoever in the school made the call when they gained their medical qualifications!
Used to work a treat when I was a rep and arsey management decided to ignore Occupational Health advice - that they had asked for!
You don’t need to consult a GP for chicken pox. It’s generally accepted that children can return to school when the spots have scabbed over which they have. Daughter kept her off for an extra couple of days to be on the safe side too.

Over reaction, or erring on the side of caution? 🤷‍♂️ It's a fine balance TBF

Not been a great night. Had a call from my mate to say that 2 of our old work colleagues have passed away in the last week. One had been ill for a while with cancer but still relatively young at 73. But the second was a complete hammer blow. She is the same age as me and somebody I still regularly met up with on my trips up to Liverpool. She took ill with liver failure during the week and died on Sunday. So sad. She was due to become a grandmother in June.

Hi all, bit of good news Jess FaceTimed to say she is allowed back to school today. I have never seen a kid so happy to be going to school. Just popped into town and saw WH Smith were selling Christmas paper reduced from 3.99 to 50p. I bought four rolls doesn’t hurt to be prepared- the early bird and all that!
Have a good day, all💙

I’m so pleased for her…and of course yourself……

So sorry to hear this Fred, I truly understand the pain of losing close friends as each loss takes something away…take care……

Sad news, particularly the unexpected passing. Hopefully you got some sleep as it will help you process things a little better today.

What awful news so very sorry to read this. I had a birthday greeting prepared for you but doesn’t seem appropriate now. Hope you are ok.💙

Very sad news Fred .It seems never ending on here at the moment .Hopefully you slept and the Blues cheer you up a little later .

Morning everyone.

Finals night at the Southport Table Tennis tournament and everything went smoothly.....apart from my pathetic attempts at jokes whilst doing the presenting....ah well I will stick to the day job ....if I had one 😂.

So, the last ever Derby at Goodison and I'm dreading it even more than the normal Derby. Please boys just one big performance.

Bit grey and overcast here today. I'm hopeless with dates but I'm guessing from @Gwladysover previous post that today is @Barnfred 55 birthday but so sorry to read his earlier post . Try to enjoy the day mate.

Well , whatever you do , have a lovely day everyone.

Weirdly H, I messaged another close friend last night who is besties with the lady (Helen) who sadly passed away. She reminded me that the last time we were all together was on my birthday 12 months ago. I looked through my pics from the time and came across this selfie taken on the night. Helen is sat in front of me. I have known the 3 ladies in this photo since I started working with them in 1980, so we go way back.

Thanks for the kind words guys but I'm fine. Whatever happens now and in the future will never compare to the horrendous period during 21/22. If I can come through that.... Whilst very sad and, in Helen's case in particular, coming completely out of the blue, neither were a constant in my life. So the harsh reality is that once I get over the initial shock and sadness, my life is going to be pretty much unchanged. Had I still lived in Liverpool and saw them more regularly, then things would most probably be different. Sorry if that sounds a bit brutal.
