Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, all the stuff you are going through on here and I’m moaning about my back - soz. Anyway off to see physio this afternoon. Finally gave up on my varifocals and had lenses replaced with distance ones, it means carrying a bag full of glasses everywhere but hey. Just off to do an online work session with 10 cushions to sit on (exaggeration ) and a hot water bottle.
Back pain is awful. I hope the physio brings some relief.

What Anj said. Backpain is terrible. Also, that's what we're here for lol

I've got therapy this afternoon. I've done my homework this week. It's hard to be positive about yourself, especially if you are not positive about life in general but I'm trying.

I don't giver myself enough credit for the simple but necessary stuff like getting up and getting dressed and walking Daisy or doing shopping. Probably sounds daft to someone who doesn't have mental health issues but even dragging yourself out of bed can be a chore when you're bad. I have Daisy to look after which helps massively to not become a hermit.

Have a nice day everyone.

Any other plans while in the City or is the game your main focus?
Someone ( to spare their blushes I won’t say who they are) has offered to show us round the city on Friday afternoon for a couple of hours and I have to say I am overwhelmed by their generosity. If all goes well, looking forward meeting up with @Val P for a chat before the game too.

Hope the therapy goes well. Even getting up in the morning can be an effort for anyone with mental health problems. so you are doing exceptionally well and should be rightly proud of your achievements.

The city centre is very compact and it’s very doable to see all of it in one day. Bring your walking shoes though.

One recommendation is to walk along the waterfront until you set eyes on Bramley Moore. 10-15 minutes from the Liver Building and you can’t miss it.

There’s a very good exhibition on in the Central Library about the People’s March for Jobs in1981, won’t take much time out of your day.

I have horrible discopathia lumbalis so no stranger to medications, therapy, etc.

The one that helped most was electroshock and radiofrequency therapy (there's defo a proper medical term for it but I cba and the doctors here genuinely called it "radiotherapy" anyway lol ). Electric was fantastic - just a nice tingling feeling, while radio was different and left some scarring, but fixed me up a bit.

What helps most is injections in all honesty, but I don't like to medicate as much as it dulls the effect and also all the pain meds make your stomach dissolve basically :(

Hope physio works for you!

Well I doubt it sounds daft to any of us in this thread mate - most of us have gone through it too, we know how it is and that you're doing your best :)

My friend's Mum Dies last May, she was 99. He is an only child and looked after his Mum to the absolute best of his ability until about a year ago when he reluctantly had to put her in a care home becuse she developed dementia and became very aggresssive. He's not short of cash, neither was his Mum - the care home fees were £3000 a month. That's astronomical. The whole care system needs overhauling. If I had my way it would be regulated, carers should have to have basic qualifications and be registered similar to how nurses and doctors are with the NMC and GMC. They should also be paid a decent wage and there should be a cap on fees. At the moment there is too much emphasis on profit rather than care

Absolutely. Due to my wife’s condition I’m hearing from others and reading much more about care homes than I ever knew. I think they should all come under the regulation and control of the NHS and funded accordingly from central taxation. Rant over……

Health and social care should be one national service and this would save massively on on-costs and management and done properly would improve quality. The trouble is I think it comes under the too hard banner and is unlikely to happen. Another problem with putting community and acute services in one organisation is that when the money gets short it’s the community end of things that suffers as you have to deal with the acutely unwell and the community waiting lists get longer. There’s no easy answer unless the services are fully funded which is as likely to happen as us winning the premiership this season. I might have been retired for 9 years this year but I try and keep up to date and read about the same old problems - it’s like there’s no organisational memory. I could just go on all day about this but for the sake of my BP I won’t 😂.

I confess to not knowing about that march but have read up now. Brilliant stuff!
