Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Afternoon all, well my therapist has challenged me to get back in touch with my friends before next Thursday's appointment. Not going to lie I'm cringing at the thought 🄺
Go for it! What’s the worst that could happen? Seriously though, give it your best shot, I’m sure you’ll be fine šŸ‘ and something good might come out of it. Rooting for you šŸ“£

Just back from a wee jaunt with Mrs b, hiring out a full kilt outfit for my youngest son’s wedding in Loch Lomond this July. I’ve worn the ā€œ Welsh Prideā€ tartan for my own wedding and my daughters , and I’ve ordered it again as this time my son has chosen it for himself, all his Groomsmen plus future Farher-In -Law. ! Should be good fun on those Bonnie Bonnie banks!
Sounds fantastic- something great to look forward to.

Believe it or not, I do speak to other dog walkers, after living here 6years you get to know the regular ones. None would have a clue that I had personality disorders. The issue is prolonged interaction. I'm very polite and say good morning etc, I'll even have conversations, I'm in control of them interactions and can exit any time. I just start feeling anxious if I have to spend any amount of time with people, even my family.

I think it's been so long that I've probably made myself more anxious as well. Fingers crossed I can take that step. Thanks G, I appreciate your advice šŸ‘Œ
I guess she’ll have gone through some coping strategies with you to use if you start to feel anxious- take a deep breath and think of those things. Nip to the loo, or go outside for a breath of fresh air if you start to feel anxious. Maybe meet them outside where it feels less restricting. I really hope you can do it, but if you can’t there’s always another time. Don’t put yourself under unhelpful pressure.

Good for him, age is a state of mind I’m sure. Some people are old in their fifties, others young in their eighties. He sounds like he was a great character.
He was. He could fix anything and if he had had the opportunity could have been an engineer instead of being forced on the land when he left school at 12. Here’s a picture I posted on the thread earlier.
My Grandad was a tinkerer too, his garage/workshop was full of old car parts, nuts, bolts, assorted bits of old metal and a wonderful smell of oil and Swarfega. This is a picture Nan and Grandad with his ā€œcontraption ā€œ made from the aforementioned bits of old metal.View attachment 166179

That’s a great photo, they look lovely. It’s sad though in a way that in those days potential was unable to be achieved. My dad was apparently a really bright kid but my grandparents couldn’t afford to send him to grammar school as you had to pay in those days.

Good morning all on this fine day here in Finland .I hope all are well and had a good night . We started to watch a series "Monarch " it is for country fans as it is about a singing family ,I like some so we will watch it and there are handsome guys so the wife is catered for .I am still sidelined with this bad elbow -bursitis -I believe .This is the best time to chop the wood down as the sap isn't yet on the rise ,I am though running out of time as the weather is abnormally warm +7° yesterday when it is usually well below 0° at the beginning of March .I might try to get the wife to have her hair cut and then cut them whilst she is out !
Have a great day all.COYB

Morning all after a beautiful bright day yesterday it’s back to the rain again. Not much planned for today, the husband lost a filling and is off to the dentist this morning. They are now private so he’s had to pay Ā£99 up front plus the treatment, filling or extraction. He’s hoping they will take it out, be cheaper in the long run.
Did anyone watch The Rescue ? It’s on iPlayer, we watched it yesterday, completely restores your faith in humanity and although I knew the outcome it was still gripping stuff.
@jazzy safe journey home, glad you and Mrs J. had a good time.
@blue1948 hope your elbow pain eases, don’t overdo it and make it worse, you don’t want to incur the wrath of Mrs. Blue.
Have a good day, allšŸ’™

Morning everyone,

Back safely but really tired. Flight was on time and landed at 11.45 and with just hand luggage through the airport in just 15 minutes.

However with the M6 , M56 and Rainford bypass all shut for repairs / road works the poor taxi driver has to take the weirdest route along the M60 / 61 and then through Chorley and eventually onto the A59 . Mrs J was like a kid , "where are we ?"

Anyway lovely break and now back to reality even though we are both knackered.

Mrs J off to the rescue shop so I will do the outdoor animals , some housework and mum's shopping with last table tennis league match of the season tonight. Such fun!

Have a lovely day everyone .

Good morning all, thankyou for all the advice and encouragement. I'm going to try my best to take the leap and contact some people, just building up the courage. If I don't get a reply I'm worried it might set me back. I do need to have a bit more interaction but at the same time I like the solitude. It's horrible being like this, I hate it what I have become, I am a mere shell of the person i used to be.

Have a lovely day everyone.

I can agree with your solitude bit. I enjoy my running , just plodding along on my own with my thought ( as Homer Simpson might say) , and feeling good. Then I realise that I’ve barely had any physical contact with other people outside my family that week , so I make a conscious effort to get out and about a bit and plan things a bit better. Just take small steps mate, a bit at a time , done at your own pace ,and changes will gradually come.
