Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

No I didn't Blue. I've seen them do that on TV, and probably would have done if I had been cooking a traditional dish, but I thought it may have clashed with the Thai effect I was trying to create.

I also cooked the mussels separately on Michelle's advice. Because they are bottom dwellers a fair amount of sand and grit comes out whilst cooking, which you don't really want in the finished soup. So by cooking them first and draining, you can let the grit settle at the bottom and just ladel the good stuff from the top when putting your sauce together.
I'm very impressed with your skills.

Good morning all. Hope you are all OK. We're in Rome today. Somewhere I've always wanted to go but never made it. Our trip this afternoon includes The Vatican so that should be good. My inner trade unionist surfaced at breakfast. One poor waiter dropped a tray of plates right in front of his boss. The boss absolutely laid into the lad. No need for it. Poor lad was nearly crying. So I spoke to the boss very politely and said there was no need to berate his staff in public, that it was an accident and to be more professional. He actually looked very sheepish afterwards.
@fandjango haven't heard from you for a bit. Are you back in Spain? Hope you're OK.

Well done on standing up for the waiter, bosses shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it. If they treat their staff like that in public makes you wonder what they are like behind closed doors.
Sounds as though you are in for a fabulous day, enjoy it.?

That's your card marked?

Good morning all on this autumnal day here in Hyvinkää .I hope all had a good night and wake to smaller fuel bills .The wife pays ours so I asked and our electric is 400€ permonth and we don't have gas ,there is no assistance here either so it seems 5200€ per annum ,it was 1300€ before .We have though got petrol prices down to pre Ukraine level .
I once picked mussels from a lake and when we cooked them they smelled very muddy so being a gent I asked the wife to taste the first and it was --muddy awful so they went in the bin .
Have a great day all .
Probably taste of mud because the water in a lake may be stagnant Blue. In the Helford you get fresh clean water every day.

Hi Fred .No it is what they say to do whilst cleaning them as the acid makes the mussel spit out all the grit ,no joke .
