Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hello lovely people.

At work feeling a bit sluggish this morning, didn’t sleep very well last night. We are still waiting to hear back when the funeral will be so we can send grandma away with a great celebration and remembrance. I had to ask my husband to talk to his mum about an emerald ring that grandma always wanted to give me but that his mum took over when she was moved to the nursing home. Now that she is gone, I really want that ring, not so much because I’ll wear it because I hardly wear rings, but because it is a treasure of her that I want to have and be able to pas down to Sofia as a family heirloom. I’m going to be so mad if his mum doesn’t grant me that wish, I already feel a bit upset with her as I feel she abandoned grandma just when she needed to be most loved and cared for. Anyway, just hope she just agrees to it without becoming a battle.

I hope everyone is having a good day. I haven’t seen @anjelikaferrett post in a couple of days so checking all is well with you. I also agree with Blue that it would be nice to hear from @Methuselah We miss you and hope all is well with you and Mrs. M. I wonder if @roydo can send an email to check on him? @Barnfred 55 have a good flight and a fabulous trip, you and @jazzy MUST take a pic together on Friday or I’ll be mad!
Hope you are feeling better, Sass. Also I hope that you get the ring, it would be lovely for you to be able to pass it on to Sofia and I am sure she would treasure it always. We had a similar situation in our family. My Mum was promised the family Bible by her great aunt. It had belonged to her mother (my Mum’s gt gt grandma) who had received as a prize when she was a child. Its only value was as an heirloom. My Mum never received it and for the rest of her life she would mention the Bible wondering where it had gone, suspecting that her sister had taken it from the family home when she married. Talking to a cousin recently I mentioned the Bible, he knew nothing about it but said he would investigate. Imagine my surprise when he emailed to say he had tracked it down. It had been in the possession of a cousin who passed away six years ago and had found its way to yet another cousin (still with me, it’s rather complicated) who said I could have it as it was rightfully mine. I’m pleased to have it but very sad at the same time to think how thrilled my Mum would have been to have finally got her inheritance.

Hi guys. Sorry to hear about your loss @Sassy Colombian . Hope you get the ring for Sofia. I am currently a poorly girl. Had a lovely weekend with son being home but woke up on Sunday morning with the worst headache I've ever had. Any sudden movement felt like my head was going to fall off. Got worse as the day went on. Ended up being sick as well. Paracetamol having zero impact. Went to the GP yesterday who says I have a virus which is affecting my throat ears eyes and sinuses - all on the left side weirdly. Slightly better today but still feel rubbish. Still have sore throat, headache and feel dizzy. I hate being ill and I hate taking Paracetamol. I have a real phobia that I'm going to take too many and die (I know, massive drama queen!) So feeling very sad and sorry for myself.

If we sell Gordon to Spurs I will never forgive the Everton board. What is that about? They are already trying to scam us with their Richarlison proposals.
Get well soon ,I feel the same about painkillers .
The papers are having a field day and will until the 1st comes and they have something real.
Someone posted as a comment .
that they would not be surprised if Moshiri sold all the best players to get some money back a few days ago and that has started the fire sale .It was stupid because how would he realise a good price if he stripped all the assets ?
Sleep well tonight.

Get well soon Anj, take it from me, as someone with experience, it takes a lot more paracetamol than you think to OD, I regular have more than I'm supposed to when I can't shift one of my headaches, never had any issues.

Morning guys hope everyone is good and absent friends are ok. Weather is roper rubbish , you wouldn't think it was summer, feels like it rains 9months of the year these days.

Anyway have a good day people.

Been here 5 hours and I've already had haggis, neeps and tatties . Lovely.

Mates had steak pie and fish and chips. Does anyone want my tartar sauce.? Ehm. Not with haggis mate. ?

The local lager is pretty good though.

Not decided what we're doing later but I'll call it now. Chinese with crispy duck and sizzling steak with green peppers (has to be green) and black bean sauce.
Knew you couldn’t stay l away too long even if you gave a hiatus announcement.. but 5 hours and your first meal in …you’re doing well to switch off ?

Morning everyone.

Hope you are all well.

Terribly sad news last night with the passing of Dame Deborah James after her heroic fight and fortitude with cancer. An inspiration to all and a reminder of what Messy went through in his latter months.

@Barnfred 55 have a great holiday - sent you a text - if you haven't got in please DM me as I will have transposed your number incorrectly.

New gas boiler being fitted today , what a lovely day.

Have a good one.

Got the txt mate. Just too pissed to reply last night?

Morning everyone, rain overnight but there are gaps in the cloud, so the weather looks like clearing, hope so because we are off to granddaughters’ sports day today. They don’t do grandparents races which is a good thing partly because I don’t do running, partly because I’m not the least bit competitive but mostly because I must be at least 15 years older than some of the grandparents. lol Hope you feel better today @anjelikaferrett and that goes for all those who feel under the weather. Have a good day all.?

Good morning all. Thanks for the good wishes. I'm feeling better than I did yesterday and about 1000 x better than on Sunday but still have a headache, I'm still dizzy and my sore throat is hanging around. @Terrarian I really feel for you, having experienced this for four days . I've just told my boss I'm stopping off all week. I know I wouldn't be able to read or concentrate for any length of time.

I too was very sad to read of the passing of Dame Deborah. Such an inspirational lady. Bowel cancer is awful. I represented a woman in work who was off sick having had a hernia op. No issues, she was never in trouble, her sick record was fine. She just wanted a union presence at her sick meetings. She rang me one day to say her husband had been diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer. He died 11 weeks later. He was 42, she was 37. They had a 6 year old son. So very sad. So going from a very routine sickness case I ended up supporting her through bereavement leave, phased return to work. It was heartbreaking. Have to say, work was, rightly, so supportive of her.

After that downer, @Barnfred 55 glad ypu are having a good time. I'm loving the food stories!

@SassI wanted to tell you about a ring my Mum had. When she passed away my Dad gave his 4 granddaughters a piece of her jewellery, I got her engagement ring, which is beautiful. It cost him £477 in 1959 - he still had the receipt. I dread to think what it's worth now. Anyway there was one ring left, a beautiful ruby and diamond one, shaped like a flower with with ruby petals and a diamond middle. My Dad did not know what to do with it. He told me he was going to give it to my oldest cousin on Mum's side. I basically said over my dead body. We hardly ever saw her. I told him to keep it or give it to my brother in case he ever has a granddaughter. He has 3 sons. Lo and behold little Scarlett arrived a year ago and Dad has already told my brother he has added it into his will that she gets the ring.

Yep. I was right.

Crispy duck was lovely in fairness ?
