Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Didn't make it to the shops. Cut the grass which is a proper workout. Definitely got all my steps in today! Then as I was going to pick Mr F up from work, our neighbour came out, flagged me down and immediately burst into tears. Her husband went missing last night. He withdrew £400 from the cash machine. She thought he was going to work but he didn't and the car has been found abandoned. The poor woman was distraught. She's recovering from breast cancer as well. I knew he hated his job - he works for Amazon and I'm sure he has been stressed by his wife's illness. I think I told you they have spent the last few years doing voluntary work in Africa but came home once she was diagnosed.

What can you say to that? I gave her a hug and said to come to us anytime she wants to or if she needs anything. She's got friends there at the moment. They seem a very devoted couple, no kids, maybe late 30s early 40s so I hope this ends happily. Just shows you have no idea what's going on in someone's head.

Blimey.

I guess the fact he withdrew £400 kinda suggests he was doing a runner, rather than, y'know. But like you say, you never know what is in someones mind.

Bloody hell poor woman.

That reminds me of a phone call I had about 20 years ago. A really good contact and semi friend went missing from his home in S Yorkshire and his wife phoned me distraught. She had no idea where he had gone , whether he had done harm to himself or what to tell their 2 kids.

I contacted everyone I could think of but no one had heard from him.

He turned up 3 weeks later and "I just needed time on my own " selfish beggar.

Fair dos, but you need a large space - plus I notice close up it looks lovely -I bet it has a nice fragrance like all the Honeysuckles ?
Plus they are prone to black fly & greenfly too easily dealt with, easily propagated etc it is deciduous in the winter [drops it leaves}?
Yes it drops its leaves and it does smell like the other honeysuckles ,we don't suffer with flies too much as I think the winter here kills them off .I have taken some cuttings and will let you know how they go on,obviously it is impossible to send them over but seeds your welcome to.

Was the 400 all they had ,if not it might mean somthing ? Of course you cannot ask but a terrible state of affairs .Pass on our regards from the Mascoteers .

I've no idea. I couldn’t really ask her any questions because she was so upset, other than had she contacted the police. She had.
Poor woman, she must be out of her mind with worry. It’s difficult to know what to say to her which wouldn’t come across as sounding trite. She’s knows you are there if needed which is the main thing. Really hope she has had some good news by now.

Granddaughter was okay at the dentist and teeth given a clean bill of health. For her treat she chose a caramel macchiato and meant we had to go to a well known chain of coffee shops which I avoid normally but a deal is a deal. I then had to pay by card, they don’t take cash and also had to give my name, why? It wasn’t as though they called out my order I stood at the counter while they made it. Are they tracking me, get the tin foil hat?.

In other news, while I was at my friend’s this morning, six baby blue tits came to her bird bath, by the time I got my phone most had flown away but I did manage to get a picture of these two chaps.View attachment 170091
I posted some bird boxes a few weeks ago and I glad to say that at least three all had bluetits nesting ,sadly I missed them flying the nest but so happy .

That's awesome. I'm going to get some next year. Fortunately our cat has no interest in chasing birds so I wouldn't be laying on an all you can eat buffet for her!

Our cat thinks he is human as he behaves just like a dog following us around ,he too doesn't take anything ,we had a field mouse in the house for two days and thought there was something wrong because he was just lying on the floor staring .We didn't know it was behind the fireplace in a small crack . Ever since he stops at lots of places staring and we think they were refuges the mouse found on his holidays !
