Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I'm on a budget and everything has gone up so much it is ridiculous, I was already struggling most months lucky if I can spend £100, Daisy's food has gone up over a quid as well.

Concerned that come winter I may not be able to run the heating. My money hasn't gone up but literally everything else has.
Layer your clothes in the cold weather ,no need to buy more ,layers is what we do in -20 . Keep the heating on lower than normal and layers.

Thing is, with PIP, if you can budget, go shopping, cook for yourself, drive, and use the bathroom alone, a shed load of points are lost.

4 time cardiac survivor and pretty much dependent on me for all of ^^^^ that Nikki didnt get the full whack cos "she sounded fine" on the phone ffs.
It is a nightmare. I did some training a few years ago when I did voluntary work with a Durham Miners' Community Group. The forms themselves are horrendous. The best advice I got was fill in the form as if you are having your worst day ever. None of this very British "not too bad" or "I can manage"

That's a fkn joke about Nikki. Utterly astounding decision.

Our neighbour applied for assistance from the council a couple of years ago and was turned down. The girl dealing with her case offered some advice in case she applied again in the future, “Next time don’t offer anyone a cup of tea when they come round” apparently if you do you fail at the first hurdle.

Was in lockdown #1 so all done by phone. On balance, Nikki wasnt incapable, but recovering. But needed help at times with stuff. So I guess, (without digging out the report we got), her demeanour on the phone, she was very lucid, gave a "good" impression.

As roydo said they hammer you for anything, last time I applied I scored zero, according to them nothing wrong with me. My sister is very I'll and shes only just been awarded it full, it got so bad she didn't even want to fill the forms in because they kept knocking her back and she has lupus n fibromyalgia. I'm not one for blagging but if you can peel a potato it counts against you and heaven forbid you admit to owning a dog that you walk further than the end of your street. So I went back to work n suffered greatly every night. I would actually want to work, I hate being home all the time but I'm struggling physically and suffering chronic headaches doesn't seem to register as a problem, I'd love for them to live with them and then come and tell me they're not an issue.

That is a amazing change in temperature blue.

It seems like only a couple of weeks ago that you had -15 degrees.

Is that normal.to jump from winter into summer?

Morning all,

Mrs J off to the charity shop this am.

Got to take mum for her haircut.

However at the same time I am expecting a delivery of outdoor furniture which is actually mum's birthday pressie so don't want her to know about it!

It's actually not her birthday until January but at 95 why wait?

I see Johnson has been caught out yet again but being the Teflon guy he is nothing ever happens to him , sickening. One rule for him one rule for us.

Sad to see the mental turmoil that DCL has gone through. Whether this is due to his injury or other issues no knows , nor I would suggest has the right to know. Whilst raising the issue of mental health is laudable I think a partial statement such as that that he has released will cause some of our supporters to engage in tittle tatter. One can only wish the young man a full and complete recovery, he certainly looked happy enough at the end of Thursday's game. How, if at all , this impacts on his Everton career I have no idea.

So, returning to some table tennis coaching for beginners tonight. Ankle still isn't right but got to return sometime.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Weather a lot better than forecast yesterday. Toured the island by car, which only took until lunchtime despite many stops, and then had a nice al fresco lunch. Island is very quaint and not over developed, with lots of forts and fortifications from either the German occupation or Napoleon's times. Visited a lovely tiny Chapel decorated inside and out with seashells. Finished off the day with a BBQ on the back of the boat and drinks and chat. They are not big drinkers and are struggling to keep up with me in holiday mode.

Today the forecast is good so taking the boat out to visit the adjacent island of Herm and hopefully do some swimming and fishing for mackerel. I've never fished before so looking forward to it. Fresh crab bought direct from the fisherman yesterday for lunch. Tonight it's my neighbours birthday so going for a nice meal.

The only bad news is Jersey's marina is closed for refurbishment and there's nowhere to stay there, so we're coming back on Thursday evening now which is a shame.
