Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Next year will be all about stability and a boring 10th place finish to allow Lampard time to make his mark on the club.

The players out of contract alone make a big difference to the numbers and the wage bill which is a good start.

Can see one of DCL or Richy going, the former if I was asked to choose and mostly likely Mina/Allan/Gomes/Davies/Holgate.
Agree, just hope everyone sees that and gives Frank the time and patience that's required.
Part of the stabilisation required is allowing our manager to bring his own players in even if that is a slow build up until we play at BMD.
There's no doubt for me things will be painful for a while before they improve and I lay the blame for that firmly with Moshiri, the buck stops with him.

Do you think we can both (as fans) deliver that patience but also keep up the fanatical support of the past 5 weeks?

Good afternoon folks. Hope you are all well. I'm having a day off today - just fancied a day in my own house catching up on everything that I needed to while I've been in Liverpool and Nottingham. Been shopping, I can't believe how much food prices are going up. I feel sorry for people who are living on a tight budget. I also need to rebuild my relationship with the cat who is ignoring me and clearly annoyed that I left her for 12 days!
I will be absolutely gutted if we sell the likes of Richarlison and DCL - who do you replace them with? You're not going to get anybody of equal quality on the cheap. I also think it sends out the wrong message. I know DCL has had a bad season but he has been injured for 95% of it. So to all those pundits who were trotting out the 'he hasn't scored since August' line - we are aware of that - he hasn't really played since August either! For the record I would also keep Mina, Dele, try and sign Van de Beek, keep Godfrey, Gordon, Iwobi, Doucoure, Allan. Not sure about Keane or Holgate. Probably keep Davies as a squad player. Sadly I think Gomes has to go. He's never been the same since that injury. I don't think the mental scars have ever really healed. I'm assuming we are still paying the Icelandic ghost. Big drain on the finances. We also need to back Lampard and let him create some stability.

@Terrarian , glad the bathroom is nearing completion, It will be lovely. as Sassy said, some nice bathmats, a shower curtain and towels will brighten it up for you. @jazzy enjoy the gym, @Barnfred 55 have a great holiday, @Gwladysover hope the school run is peaceful.

Thanks, What a difference the new floor makes, sounds obvious but I can't stress enough how grimy and dirty it was and had been since I moved in, even after a mop or the steamer on it you couldn't tell and it was getting me down a bit. That and the dirty filthy rusted sink legs have gone. I am actually looking forward to decorating it now.

Just had my first shower for a week lol phew.

Yeah I'dove to keep Richy and DCL too but our finances dictate that we need a sacrificial lamb to start to balance the books I think.

Pretty sure the Iceman is out of contract in June.

Agree about the food prices and it struck me in Tesco this morning, you can put good meals together on budget but you need a lot of time to cook from scratch and also have the ability to do so. It is a real double edged sword for the working poor.

No, that intensity would lose it's effect even if the supporters were able to sustain it on a regular basis.
I don't think any manager is shown patience these days, Fergie would have been out on his ear long before any success had he been starting his Premiership career now.

Yeah that is the modern way. I do think however that Lampard will get extra time from fans due to the trauma of how this season turned out. Even small signs of progression will be warmly welcomed next season particularly if we can pick up a few points early.

It takes skill , knowledge and discipline to cook on a budget I think.

Our average food spend is about £50 per week( 2 of us ) but then we cook everything from scratch and don't buy any meat.

It’s pleasing that my own kids are being taught cookery skills at school now whenever it was never offered to me. It is one of the biggest life skills after all!

Great question AT.

I think LT is spit on that you can't maintain the level of fan intensity that we have seen in the last 6 weeks.

I actually think that if Moshiri came out and said that you have made terrible mistakes , lost a shedload of money, but now gave young manager who will build a young squad over time that the fans would accept that and be patient, well the majority anyway.

Does that include your pet food? I've noticed that has really gone up too - even in Home Bargains which is cheaper than Tesco and where I buy all my cat food/cleaning products and toiletries. I spent £150 this morning on food, cat stuff, cleaning products washing powder and toiletries. To ve fair we didn't shop last week but even so....there's only three of us!

I hope so AT, didn't think he was upto the job when we brought him in, it was a massive ask to get us safe IMO but he showed great resilience and strength of character whilst also emotionally buying into the club.
