This leads me to question Heitinga's role in the team. He's too good to provide cover, but maybe not good enough for a first choice RB. Now unless we're going with 3 CBs and bringing back the wingback, I fail to see his spot in the lineup. Or is Felli's injury not recovering too well?

4-2-3-1

Felli and Heit holding ;].

I think Johnny will be used where needed, untill Fellaini comes back I can see him being used in midfield, then when Fellaini is fit, if Dustbin has been looking gash, he will sit it out. Its all about options, Sir David has lots of them all over the park, its good to see.

I hope Beckford can be quick in adapting to the premier league because I think he can become our no. 1 striker, he has bags of ability, skill, pace, finishing and movement he could be very exciting

I dunno about Heitinga being ahead of Distin at centre-half, heitinga lacks height and is right-footed so doesn't give us the right and left footed balance and Distin has got more pace than Heitinga , however, heitinga has got many qualities that Distin hasn't but on the balance if he's playing well i'd stick with Distin for now

Judging by a whole of last season, there is no way I'd have Distin before Heitinga mate.

I thought Distin had a dodgy spell in the middle of the season but the last third of the season I thought he was our best defender and was helping Jagielka through games while he was getting his fitness back up and if he plays like that next season i'd be quite happy to have him starting alongside Jags

Hes prone to brain freeze and doesnt really fill me with any confidence, on the same token, I always feel as tho Johnny will karate kick somebody or just take them out at some point, which is fine, just not in the area Johnny lid.

I like Distin (please don't call him Dustbin. He's our own player, and he's not [Poor language removed] and he seems a decent guy too). But Johnny is better. I've been dreaming of the Heitinga/Jags pairing with Felli protecting them, but I'm not so sure that dream will be a reality anymore.

My feelings on the matter though are that Distin is the worst of the 3, and subsequently should be on the bench. But then Davey likes his LCBs to be left footed.

I think Distin is a solid centre back that is a decent squad player.

I too really want to see Jonny/Jags pairing, think it would be blood and glory all over the show. Jonny going tight with Jags covering is mustard.

I just really want to see Fellaini and Arteta in the middle doing their business together.

Make no mistake we as it stands today on the 14th July 2010 I honestly think we have the best SQUAD we have had in my life time as an Evertonian.

That hasn't been a problem for him as of yet, there wasn't a game during last season where he struggled aerially. He competes well and has a decent leap, height isn't always everything. Yobo and Distin aren't dominant in the air either and they are alot taller. All our centre backs are pretty capable in this area.

As for being right footed, it doesn't really matter, Heitinga's distribution is on a different level to Distin's and he played left centre back when Neill was partnering him, as Jagielka has done when he's partnered Yobo in the past. John Terry is a right footed left centre back, quite a few right footers play there.

It doesn't really bother me because Heitinga is very comfortable in either position (defence and midfield), just don't play him alongside Fellaini, please, gracias.

I too don't understand that argument. Jags is average height at 5'11, and Heitinga isn't small. He's 6 foot. Tim Cahill is 5'10 and we don't say he can't compete aerially. I've not seen Jags or Heitinga struggle in the air, and with Felli covering them it's not going to be a problem.
