Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
Was just thinking looking through the 'best eleven' thread that we're going to be losing a heck of a lot of squad players this summer.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jacobsen, Valente, Castillo, VDM and Jo had all departed before the start of next season.

Will it matter? On the one hand they're all experienced internationals. On the other none have really contributed much this season. Jacobsen hasn't played at all yet, Valente only a few times, VDM well documented, Castillo only a dozen games and Jo not many either.

Are they dead weight we can afford to lose? Have the likes of Gosling and Rodwell overtaken these internationals in the pecking order now? Will any of them be replaced in the summer, and by whom if they are? We signed three bargain basement players last summer in Nash, Jacobsen and Castillo and their impact has been negligble.

Hopefully Moyes will be able to dig into the treasure trove and unearth a few unpolished gems because we do look short, especially in wide areas.

I'm already dreading the july transfer window. Hours spent speculating, watching Sky bloody Sports News and wearing the keyboard out.
Sad to have to say this but the players mentioned above, including my lovely Nuno, will all be on their way at the end of the season to be replaced by??????

Like I said, I'm dreading the transfer window:(

VDM and Castillo will almost certainly move on, Jacobsen we have'nt seen and Moyes obviously feels he is'nt good enough. Valente will stay because Moyes likes him and we just have to wait and see what else Jo can give us. Any departures would obviously have to be replaced and further strengthening of numbers is vital. Despite our good form without key players this season, we cant afford to become stretched again next season. Rodwell and Gosling are more than ready to becomes permanent fixtures and fittings in Everton's cog but we need to have more cover should we suffer another injury blighted campaign.

Or if your glass is half full some waining and not very reliable squad players move on to create space on the wage bill.

I think Jacobson may still make an impact before the end of the season.

It's also very possible that we'll also be forced to sell one of our key players - the need for transfer funds makes this more likely.

As we will be in Europe next season, we will need if anything a bigger squad than we have now, even taking into account the fact that most of the players who'll be leaving haven't contributed much this season.

Moyes is really going to have to produce some of his magic with the very limited financial resources at his disposal.

i think by now it will be a summer generally like all others recently bargain buys ( in the hope they work out ...arteta cahill...) loan deals and 1 signing of about 6-10m....before you start hammering away at yours K/B we will come up with that amount without havin to sell .......

trust is a very powerful tool

It's not that we used players like Castillo, VDM, Valente etc...etc... that often. We also have Rodwell and Gosling breaking through and maybe next season we can add Baxter to that list. Would be nice to have a bigger squad, but do think we have to look at bringing in quality rather than quantity. Having said that the lack of transfermoney will probably be even more frustrating than last summer. Think someone will be sold. Not one of the top performers, but my money will be on Anichebe.

Would not be sad to see all those go apart from Jo as long as he realises the great chance he is being given and shows more of the Brazillian in him.

Help to reduce our wages bill as well. As for the ANC I think we cover enough in those positions.

The thing that concerns me about those probably heading for the departure gate is that I can't see us getting much, if any, transfer money for them. I really (really, really) hope I'm wrong but unless we get some money from under the mattress we could well be selling before we buy this summer, and if we're offloading a good number of experienced squad players for nowt...
