💳 Payment Method. Never pay via direct bank transfer. This offers zero buyer protection - once the money is sent, it cannot be reversed and your bank is unlikely to refund any losses. Always research your payment method before using it. PayPal, for example, offers meaningful buyer protection and is strongly recommended over a bank transfer.

🤝 Where possible, arrange to meet face to face - ideally at an Everton match - and exchange tickets in person.

👤 Check Their Forum Profile Review the seller's forum history. Have they been a member for a long time, or did they register recently? Do other members speak positively of them? A long-standing, active member with good feedback is a much safer bet.

Just got in then at 10.01 to get our Villa tickets and huge blocks of the allocation were greyed out and could not be selected, how is this possible when its meant to only be on sale to people with 18 plus credits, deffo some sketchy goings on in that ticket office imo.

Nothing sketchy going on, those are just the tickets that are preliminarily reserved for Supporters Clubs who send in their ticket requests via email to the supporters club liaison office. Once all of the supporters clubs tickets have been processed, any seats not used are then released back onto the website. Supporters Clubs can only apply for tickets for their members that have the required credit criteria, so they would still have qualified for tickets if they ordered them themselves on the website. Supporters Clubs no longer get given an 'allocation' or any preferential treatment.

They do get given all the best seats though, which is them getting preferential treatment over everyone else who has the same credits, everyone should have to apply on the website, everything is transparent then.

I suppose 'best seats' is a pretty subjective thing though. My choice of seat more than likely wouldn't be the same as your choice for example. Some people prefer upper tier, others prefer lower etc. When supporters clubs book their tickets through the email method, you don't get to choose your seats, or even what part of the stand you sit in.

what is the reason for this 2 tier method of applying for tickets though, why cant everyone just apply on the website like the selling details say? It makes no mention of blocks being put to one side for supporters clubs when they put up the selling criteria does it.

Primarily it's to make it a bit easier for the people who spend the time and effort to run a Supporters Group.

Looking at Villa for example, if you have 14 credits, you will qualify for a ticket regardless. But if you have 14 credits, you won't be able to purchase until tomorrow afternoon. So for example, a Supporters Group may have 30 members who will qualify for a ticket based on their away credits, but you may have 10 members on 18 credits, 10 members on 16 credits, and 10 members on 14 credits, all of which will ultimately qualify for a ticket. To make things easier and allow Supporters Group members to sit together, and to avoid Supporters Group owners having to make multiple purchases on multiple days, Supporters Groups can email the club a day or two before the ticket release with the names and numbers of all their members who want a ticket. These tickets are then held back (the grey seats you saw), and are manually processed in one go by the Box Office, which allows all the Supporter Group members to sit together, and saves the people who run the groups a load of faff.

You could argue 'why don't all the members just order their own tickets on the website', but this results in all the members who have travelled to the game together being spread across various parts of the stadium, and sort of takes away from the point of being in a Supports Group, and more than likely means not as good an atmosphere in the away end, which I don't think anyone wants.

Over the years EFC have removed the majority of benefits that affiliated Supporters Groups get, this is the one remaining thing that is of any benefit to them that the club still offer. I run a Supporters Group but I still buy our tickets via the website using the Friends and Family list, but there are not many of us and we are all on the same credits more or less, so it's less of an issue for me. But I can only imagine the ball ache it'd be for people who run larger Supporter Groups, so I personally don't begrudge them this one little benefit.
