I must hold my hand up and give young Holgate a break. At right back defensively he played really well. When he came forward
he would not cross the ball even when in a good position, I'm sure he'd been told not to bother and he chose to either pass or
go back, which isn't good for an attacking full back. (Sorry! The Poland game).

This is probably the best England has been in the tournament. Holgate has been okay. He's been taking more risks than usual, but they haven't really found him when he surged forward. Gray, Abraham and Hughes have stood out today.

Need to take it step by step. Just can't throw him in to play 2CB pairing in PL. I think he was partly to blame for the first goal conceded by England U-21 too. His positioning was meh...

I just cannot see him as a CB in a back 4 at this moment in time. Heading seems to be a weakness of his. Jonjoe Kenny also looks a better right back. I think Holgate is a steady right back but with no attacking threat and will need to step up sharply or he will not have a place in the team.
