Martinez

Martinez is the best manager out there if we don't get major money in soon those with dough will come sniffing - better appreciate him while we can.

I don't get this, at least not in the short term. If he can win at Everton, where is he leaving to go manage? If he can't win, where is he leaving to go manage?

Hopefully after the first half on Saturday he'll start picking the best XI from the start. Otherwise, not much to complain about.

Only time will tell us the character of RM.

What is obvious however is that he is a totally different kind of character to David Moyes.

RM seems enthusiastic ,passionate and outgoing.
We know that he believes in a totally different style of football to DM, only time will tell where he takes our club.

The signs ,however are very positive.

Moyes got us 4th in a league where Spurs and City were far less competitive. It's a stupid comparison.

Finishing 5th would be an equal achievement to that, imo. I also don't think Martinez will have us finishing 17th as Moyes once did.
To balance that out a little, we also have a far better squad than the squad Moyes took us to 4th with.

However, your comment " I also don't think Martinez will have us finishing 17th as Moyes once did" IS a stupid comment.

I'd hope not with the squad Martinez has! Far superior to the squad that finished 17th.

Stupid comparison.

Im impressed with him so far. Knew beforehand that he'd represent the club well and with class. But hes clearly not all front and no slouch in telling it like it is to the players given his halftime 'talk' on Saturday. Looks like he knows when to change it round too...don't want to knock Davey, but he left it late in his subs far too often. Really looking forward to how we shape up as the season progresses.

Have to say I do like him Says the right things and everything.

I'll be interested to see how this thread goes when we inevitably have a bad spell.

I can never imagine Martinez saying top 10 would be a good finish for Everton...as Moyes did on many occassions. I also can't see Martinez saying that Everton fans need to revise their expectations...as Moyes did.

We've had our bad spell....3 draws when we should have won b)

I'm looking forward to us going to Analfield this season with a plan to win the game

It's good he's beginning to convince the doubters. Those same doubters, though, need to retain their convictions when we hit the buffers at some point this season...and we will.

How do you define "hit the buffers"? Most teams have at least one poor patch per season. Ours usually came in the first half and inevitably resulted in everyone (bar myself and a couple of others it seemed) on the forum demanding the manager be sacked immediately.

If by hit the buffers you mean a huge collapse, I don't see why that has to happen at all. We're a quality side with depth and seem to have had a smooth transition thus far. Why exactly at some point this season does everything have to go south?

He just means a run of bad results, typically happens at some point in the season to most teams.

Not necessarily losing 7 straight games and 3 first team players out for the rest of the season (touches wood).

Ill be honest I never wanted Martinez I thought he would really bomb here, but early signs are very promising and I am behind him 100%. I said when he was appointed that I will be happy with a top half place at the end of the season.

Now am not having a pop at moyes and even tho the blue tinted specs have come off and a couple of "home truths" have come out about him, I will always be grateful for what he has done for this club and a little bit of me will always think fondly of him. But what Martinez has done to this club in what 14 weeks? Well it's just scrumtrylecent and whats more the whole mood of the club fans, team and staff seems to of been up lifted. I am acually existed to go to watch the match now maybe it's just the honeymoon period but long may it continue and I think/hope that it's only going to get better the more settled the team gets with this new style of play.

Couldn't agree with you more...after we drew our first three, there were Evertonians looking for his head on a block. Ridiculous how idiotic some people can be.

As long as any such run of poor form doesn't cost us a top 6 finish, I wouldn't mind. Where we are in May is what really matters.

People will call for his head if things go wrong for any sustained amount of time. Happened with Moyes all through his reign and it will happen with Martinez. Even back in 2005, soon after the 4th place miracle Moyes had achieved, many wanted him sacked a couple of months into the new season.

Comparison with Moyes is utterly pointless. Moyes achieved what he achieved and failed at what he failed at. RM will do the same.

I am hugely impresssed by him. He looks the part and sounds the part of an Everton manager. He handled the window well, has managed expectations well...no bull**** bragging but no whingeing about not being able to compete either.

I can't see him fearing the so called Big Clubs. We'll lose some of those games but I think we'll win some as well. I make us a live chance agaisnt the RS and United this season. I make us a live top 6 chance. I like the manager.
