Only time will tell us the character of RM.

What is obvious however is that he is a totally different kind of character to David Moyes.

RM seems enthusiastic ,passionate and outgoing.

We know that he believes in a totally different style of football to DM, only time will tell where he takes our club.

The signs ,however are very positive.

Have to disagree with that bit.

Moyes was all of those things when he first took over at Everton. He only later on became a dour, safe and easy option man, when he probably realised that the board would never be able to back him financially to make Everton compete consistently for a top 4 place.

As for Martinez, he seems exactly the breath of fresh air that we all needed.

Which is exactly why so many of us beleived he had done 18-24 months too long.

We had beaten the passion out of him almost and I was happy when he left because we needed someone in again who hadnt been let down time and time again by a pi55 poor board and had that hunger and desire.

Moyes done a hell of a lot for Everton, he had just taken us as far as he ever could. I was furious last season that time and time again his tactical ineptitude cost us points and id genuinely had enough of going out to not get beat.

Almost got a touch on as the second half started when it was obvious weve now got a guy in the dugout willing to make positive match winning changes with enough time for them to actually have an impact.

David Moyes is a dour Glasweigan and always will be.
He and Martinez are totally different in temperament and in character and always will be.
That is not a criticism of Moyes,it worked well for him and for a long time it worked very well for us.
I do believe that when David Moyes took over he was probably more idealistic ,but found over time that he simply was not as a manager able to overcome the lack of transfer funds.
Again, only time will tell if RM can cope better.
I do think however that time will show us that it was David Moyes limitations as a manager that had as large a part to play in Everton not challenging for a top four spot as it was lack of funds.
He could get a really good squad together but couldn't get the best from it.

Just enjoyed his comments in the press conference on the badges and agreed with his choice: the first one is defo the best.

Bloody ace of the club to listen to the fans and completely throw their choice out the window, it has to be said. I'm very impressed.

I love the fact that the club have decided to stream all the press conferences Live on YouTube this year. It's great hearing Martinez talk about the squad.

Just got to love his references to Dixie and Dave Hickson with the comparison to Lukakus goal. Also that Nil satis nisi optimum is a must on the crest. He has certainly done his homework on the history of our club and is knowing what we as supporters expect.

It's good he's beginning to convince the doubters. Those same doubters, though, need to retain their convictions when we hit the buffers at some point this season...and we will.

Moyes one season got us 4th lad, martinez won't do that. mark my words.

Moyes got us 4th in a league where Spurs and City were far less competitive. It's a stupid comparison.

Finishing 5th would be an equal achievement to that, imo. I also don't think Martinez will have us finishing 17th as Moyes once did.

Have to say I do like him Says the right things and everything.

I'll be interested to see how this thread goes when we inevitably have a bad spell.

its possible to argue that Moyes' 'over achieving' was in fact more the richer sides under-achieving, but that would be pretty harsh on Moyes I guess.

I think he's done the politics of the job very well - kept all the players onboard, managed the support well enough, and handled that transfer window diplomatically.

He's very professional. Much more of an operator than I thought he'd be.

He has done all of this very well. He's extremely positive, but the question is whether he has any other gear. Positive all the time won't work if the ship is sinking.

That said, from what I hear about his half time address to the players, putting on his angry face, maybe he can do something else when needed.
