Martinez - Thoughts So Far?

The biggest positive for me is how he's proud to be Everton manager, and how he talks about the fans. Letting us know things first, showing us respect. I enjoyed the way he stood up to Moyes and Man Utd. And I think he knows we need to get goals into the side, especially if we lose Fellaini. He talked about how Fellaini coming on against Stevenage gave us our cutting edge. I think he knows where he wants to improve and if he has about £15m (pipe dream I know) to spend without selling Fellaini and Baines I think he'll surprise us before the window by bringing some good players in. I just hope he has a decent amount of money left. Mackay was linked with us and has impressed me but Martinez did much better against him than Man City did last weekend. Delefeou is a brilliant coup but the key will be injuries and getting some goals into the side.

Thats just meaningless PR just like what rodgers survived on last season

And people said we didn't need to sign another forward before the start of the season haha.

We tried this style of football under Moyes and he soon ditched it, Martinez clearly isn't going to do that but at the same time I'd like to see us mix it up a bit more.

I don't think much as changed. We are capable of monopolising the ball but when we do, we struggle to break teams down. It was exactly the same when Moyes tried to play that way as he did for several sustained periods. In the end we got more points being more direct or we found a bit of an x-factor (Landon) to unlock things. That's not to say we can't win games playing passing football, we just need some different players who can move the ball more quickly while retaining the same control. And then we need a finishing touch, be that from a striker with an ounce of confidence or a midflielder who genuinely wants to get in there a la Cahill.

Martinez needs some support from his board over the next 3 days.

Need Mirallas up top with KoneA I guess. At least KoneA has good touch in the midfield. Gerard needs to be on the RW. Ironically the Barca player is the only one who seems be direct when its needed.

Too many touches in and around the box. We are trying to find the perfect shot even Barkley is doing it now.

We are probably 2 semi-competent refs away from 7 pts and everybody would be fine. No reason to go nuts yet.

1st game - Spawny goals against us.

2nd game - Team parked the bus, couldn't break them down.

3rd game - On top completely, lacked decisions and cutting edge.

Overall - We lack cutting edge/final pass/striker.
this is a huge problem...dont fix this its mid table at best

My issue is that it was ridiculously obvious what Cardiff were doing early on - ten men behind the ball, no gaps, mark out the striker, watch any runners out wide and press the man in possession when they get within 35 yards.

What I would have hoped is that Martinez would have recognised this and had a Plan B. Play direct, get it forward, open the game up etc.

It's the lack of tactical nous that is so worrying, along with the late subs. It's Brendan Rodgers with a dash of David Moyes at the moment, and that isn't a good thing.

We don't have a striker. Both Jelavic and Kone are poor.

Martinez has to take responsibility for;

- Buying Kone
- Selecting Leon Osman
- Not bringing Deulofeu on 15mins earlier when the game was screaming out for his introduction.

We need a cut edge in the final third. Everyone knows that but Kenwright's bank account is empty and yet he refuses to sell. Without funds to support our manager we go round and round and round.

give him time pre season games mean sod all anymore whats come out of the first 3 games is need for a striker and midfielder and osman is no longer good enough

Easy tiger, I know you have your pride and all but come on, amazing 4 draws against 4 teams we should be beating, that is not amazing, unless you are popcorning everyone

Four games - three draws and a win, dominated every game and robbed today.

You're right, it's disastrous.

Lol!
