Martinez - Thoughts So Far?

I feel ashamed to support a club where some fans think its acceptable for a club like us to be scraping draws against the likes or Norwich Cardiff and WBA

can someone delete my membership here what a bunch of idiots

But we haven't exactly "scraped draws", have we? Our finishing has left a lot to be desired, but the fact remains that we're unbeaten, and have kept two clean sheets out of three.

As for your last point, I'd really rather you didn't call us all idiots.

Of course it matters,if the OP is correct in saying players were told to be there at 17.30 you cant have players rolling in anytime they like, you have to have respect for the manager and disipline at the club.

Yes because the lad who started the thread knew what time the players should arrive

It's just a different management style.

I wouldn't read too much into it. Start worrying if there are any reports of player brawls in training.

Groucho, as my dad says player brawls shows passion and desire to win. I think he's right.

Trust me, Martinez is not a push over, he is as strict as Moyes and just because he seems a mr nice guy, he's not like that all the time. When criticism is needed, he will lay it down.

Not his players, doesn't know if some ever will be his players, doesn't have the luxury of money to do the "new broom" thing.

Judging by his comments about "he said this and he said that" re Moyes and Kenwright he's a man who doesn't suffer fools, in my opinion he will get on with things in a quiet, effective, understated way dealing with those who need it without the posturing beloved of cnts.

The world is full of dolts misunderstanding humility and manners for weakness and end up wondering what just knocked them on their arse - don't underestimate the man.

To be fair Martinez is doing much better than I expected.

I was anticipating shipping several goals a game as well as being completely toothless upfront.

My problem, and it has always been my problem with his appointment, is that he seems to have a style of game he likes to impose on a squad regardless of the personnel available to him. Now if he had an unlimited budget to bring in the type of players who can make a difference in the final third then it might well work. But he doesn't, he has enough to bring in bog standard players on low fees. And when you have that type of budget you have to find a way to win games.

The transition from defence to attack is just too slow, most goals happen within a few seconds of the opposition losing the ball. We are winning the ball then instantly slowing the game which gives them time to get back into place. It might look pretty but it will cost us many clear cut chances.

That's very big of you.

*Timak* would like to be fair to FA Cup winning manager Roberto Martinez.

Who is this chimp...

You should have heard the suicide cases on local radio tonight. You'd think we were on a par with Real Madrid and just been ****ted by Cardiff 10-0. Embarrassing. I bet the Kopites were pissing themselves at the antics.

Some people really need to learn to control themselves.

Exactly what I feared so far... a lot of passing for passing sake and a minimum points haul. More defensively sound then I thought but we have played 3 average teams(though there are a lot of them in the Premier League).

No one is saying the players have no discipline, I'm trying to work out why it would matter in the slightest if the players arrive slightly later. The whole of this thread is hinting that because Martinez has supposedly changed some the times then that has been affecting the performances.
