Yep and the buffoon`s signings are 50/50 at best, 3 good 3 poor we cant afford that really, big gamble giving him until Christmas, I think we would know within the first six games if, we have a well thought out and planned pre-season, something that he failed with with last time.

I think taking the pre season and all season into account Martinez has failed massively, this is a great squad and should do much better, I think there are lots of problems behind the scenes with his style of play, incresed injuries due to this, and players not being comfortable with his football philosophy, ` square pegs round holes` for me out soon as season finished

You keep mentioning him but he's never never managed Everton. He was goalkeeper for Italy last time I heard of him.

He's been very canny about hiding his true opinions but I am beginning to get the impression he's not Martinez' biggest fan, yes.

Reading between the lines and all that.

Wish I could do that! :P I just keep seeing the word buffoon. He even put it in exclamation marks at one point. What was all that about? :/

The 'buffoon' adjective with every comment is getting a bit tedious mate.
You argue your case very well, and are clearly capable of expressing an opinion without descending into childlike language, so try to keep it that way please.

I think there's some strong loyalty there though

I mean, McCarthy probably could have gone from Wigan to a club other than us, but I think part of the reason he came here was because Martinez was the manager

I think it helps, sure.

One of the reasons I was so for that move, as I think I said to you at the time, was that I felt he'd stick with us and Martinez and we wouldn't have to replace him in 3 years time. That position would be sorted for a decade.

But going from second flight wigan to first flight everton is one thing. Going from everton to say real Oviedo or Leicester or sunderland or Valencia. Quite another.

Depends where Martinez end up.

Exactly

Say if we did go down for instance and Martinez got a job at another Premiership club, I expect McCarthy would be joining him pretty sharpish

But yeah, if Martinez wound up as the new Brentford manager in the Championship, I couldn't see McCarthy going there at that point

One thing that I think we may have to consider is that if Martinez were to go, you'd have to think that McCarthy would follow him out the door to whatever club he ended up at

He's a Martinez buy and a Martinez guy

I would doubt it, Mikey.

It is quite one thing following a manager from Wigan to Everton.

But if Bobby is fired his next job won't be at a bigger club than EFC.

So McCarthy is unlikely to follow him to, say, Leicester City or Leeds United.

Living genius.

Was trying to lighten the atmosphere due to our appalling season, but point taken, apologies
