This window was clearly used to create depth. I'm not an expert, but it makes sense that he not gamble on discovering talent when the goal is creating depth.

My only concern is Heitinga is still on the books.

So we have experienced cover in most positions. Last year our bench offered very little, but we have at least some options now.

Maloney is probably his best-ever buy at £850,000, with Boselli obviously being the worst. I don't think you could really say he's unearthed any hidden gems yet.

I saw the interest from Newcastle being reported on Sky, but I'll have to take Brennan's word on the fee.

I still think Martinez is somewhat unproven in the transfer market, and before the zealots jump in, that isn't me saying he's crap.

I"ll throw a few oldies in George Best, Derek Duggan, (sp) Pat Jennings. It doesn't matter what nationality you are these days I wouldn't care if we signed someone from the Upper Volta provided he was good enough and could do the business for Everton
