Hayee, cannot believe you wanted the likes of Weir/Stubbs/Neville over Martinez. One of the worse shouts I've read on here in ages.

I approve of the results so far.

I approve of our slick footballing skillz when it comes off.

I approve of his use of Ross Barkley.

I approve of most of his signings (sorry Kone, but you've had a 'mare so far kid).

I am less sure about some of his hyper-positive media pronouncements and flowery language. Comes across a bit crackpot sometimes.

there's your correlation :)

i don't know what the future holds, but as i've said countless times, i didn't want nor do i approve martinez but i will support him, i wanted Duncan Ferguson and ANYONE else would have been a disappointment to me

...sorry to gang up o0n you Hayee, and you are of course entitled to an opinion. I can only say however, that I am ****ing glad you don't make managerial appointment decisions at EFC!

You all know my thoughts on our manager. This is something that isn't down to him though, we seem to be conceding easy goals as of late, just hope we put a stop to it and tighten up a bit.

we went about 17? games without a clean sheet under the defensively minded moyes last season. it's because instead of hibbert or neville playing RB who both got nosebleeds if they touched the half way line, we have coleman. We're creating and scoring more goals as a result though and obviously our defesive record is going to suffer.

The phrase that comes up again and again is that Martinez is like a breath of fresh air.

He's like when Moyes first came in, he was so positive and gave the place a psychological lift which, combined with better players and Moyes' tactics (bear with me Moyes haters) took us from relegation battles to top 6.

Martinez has inherited a far healthier Everton than Moyes did. Hopefully his positivity, better players and better tactics give us another push to finish higher up the league?

i honestly dont see a difference in the defending over last year mate, it looked ropey at times last year too, last two games i think we just came out second half thinking the game was won already vs Newcastle, and today jags looked knackered and they had all their pressure though set pieces, strangely think we look a lot more vulnerable to those without jelavic playing as he does defend them really well and we dont have that many good in the air tbh
I agree our defending last part of last season was similar we found it hard to keep a clean sheet under DM - any high ball and we can not cope that well imo!

I would say he is performing as expected. The squad of players he has are good enough to push for the top 4, and that is where we currently sit.
I would also say that it is far far too early to make any judgements - lets get on a great winning streak and see how he keeps the players motivated and fresh, or worst case scenario - go through a bad patch and see how he lifts us out of it. That is how you really judge a manager, not when he just keeps things ticking over
