The sad thing is people actually believe what these newspapers and 'experts' have to say. Sad thing is nearly anyone could do the jobs, I've always wondered though do they actually believe the dribble they write or are they told to follow the line and do as they're told.
If the site doesn't require you to pay to read it, its usually a case of the journalists doing what they can to get traffic. Some organisations/journalists are ethical, they will avoid defamation attempts because they are genuinely competent at their trade without having to rely on controversy. Instead they will seek out stories they have a passion for. These are the sort of journalists that are labelled as "football hipsters", especially when they write about the state of Colombian football to a British readership a la Rory Smith of The Times, but generally they are the better journalists.
Other organisations/journalists are the opposite. They will purposely try to agitate supporters because they know controversy loves company (me, you and others clicking on the link, sharing it, etc). They don't care about our opinions on it, as long as the hits are rising its a job done for Martin Samuel unfortunately.
