Not necessarily true. Koeman did manage 61 points in his first season and Allardyce did manage to get us to 50 points even after that horrid start and abysmal squad. Silva may or may not be the guy, but overall, he has not had the team playing consistently enough this season. Set pieces have also been a disaster. That has to improve.

Also had a minus 14 GD. Worst in the top 11 teams I believe. Wasn't a good season at all. Which I why I believe Silva should be evaluated on things like that come the end of season. Pts obv but also things like GF, GA and other similar stats which will show overall improvement or not. What I mean is it shouldn't just be a case of if he gets less or the same pts as Sam then he's not up to the task. Other areas need to be evaluated too.

Sam wasn’t up to snuff either obviously, but he got results. Silva is looking a bit like Roberto atm. We could very easily have been top 4 in the first half of the season had we dealt with set pieces and avoided silly mistakes.
The way we surrendered a 2-0 lead to Newcastle is another example of the struggles. You can have all the stats in the world, but you have to grind out results. Silva has been very disappointing in that regard.

There's something of a 'he's learning on the job' aspect to Marco presently . That's ok I guess... as long as he genuinely has managerial talent.

My concern is very simple. Silva might be more fashionable, handsome and attack minded than Koeman and Allardyce but the fact is that we haven't progressed forwards at all. We were crap last season and only finished 8th because the rest of the teams were ever crapper. It really wasn't a hard season to beat for any new Manager. On the contrary, doing better was a must regardless of transition. So here is last seasons end stats followed by this season with 7 games to go. What is the difference? There isn't any. Both seasons have been crap and we haven't moved forwards at all under Silva and it has nothing to do with transition.

Just to equal last season he has to get 9 more points on the board. We could actually end up doing worse than last season yet as unbelievable as that might have seemed at the start of the season. Even if he does it i will find it hard to get behind him and will be nervous about more inconsistency and slumps next season as that is all he has ever done in this league so that is all we can go off.
Got to have a strong finish starting from tomorrow to even have a chance of still being the Manager next season in my humble opinion.
