Imagine the crap he could have signed if he was given real money
He relegated Wigan ,was poor after one good season with us
The man could not spot a decent player if his life depended on it

The one big money signing he was allowed - Lukaku. Best PL era signing by the club.

Yes and by all accounts it was not Lukaku he went after on loan
After one season here Lukaku was a no brainer
I remember Lukaku coming on as a sub for WBA in Fergusons last game as manager of United
Scored 3 IN 45 MINS
Even then his class stood out and Martinez could not se that

Forget 'every successful club' (which is an enormous reach in any case).

What has worked well for us in the past before the DoF calamity? Manager + scouts + club secretary/hands on chairman operating in the transfer market and securing deals. But mostly a manager who knows what players he wants...which is to say, every single manager there is out there wants that too.

DoF is an unecessary tier of bureacracy. It's been proven beyond doubt it fails at Everton. And the club have spent half a billion finding that out.

Cut the losses, and cut the post.
Our trophy cabinet bears testament to the bit in bold

I'm on about Brands

If you take his signings into account, there's some good and some bad. I've been more concerned that he appears to think we can take risks on certain areas of the squad though, and that it quickly comes back to bite us.

I don't know what the next step is. We'll have to see what the club do. But DoF systems can and do work, whether here or abroad. It's about having the right person in.

Walsh was a glorified scout. Brands has had to clear up his mess but has clearly made mistakes of his own, too.
Carlo has said the squad is too big
We had too many unwated players draining wages from the club
They needed to be shifted before we can sign more
Bolasie is a forward player as is Tosun
One is crap and 1 is injured and crap
It will take time to fill the gaps

Wrong way round Brisan, it will take time to create the gaps.

Brands has made mistakes, like everybody else... but while director of football at the club he has been involved in the signing of Godfrey, Minna, Digne, Nkounkou,Branthwaite,Gomes, Allan, Doucoure, JR and Richarlison.
Allowing for the mistakes that is not bad unless you try to make the argument he had nothing to do with the good signings but was responsible for the bad

The thing is transfers aside, nobody has any clue on his day to day role, transfers are only a very small part of it. He may be working absolute magic through the academy that will benefit us long term, we don't know. Stop judging him on transfers alone as any player at any club is always a risk, some do well some don't ,some fit certain clubs, some don't

I think the biggest indicator of the stupidity in letting kean go without another attacker lined up (arguably walcott going too now) will be the bench tomorrow, i can't even think who'll go on there. Simms may be on there?
